Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. The BIOS learn cycle writes fresh data to the new cell and the health warning clears.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge under-reports remaining charge, and the system hits its shutdown threshold while the cell still holds usable capacity. It is not a dead cell. Complete two to three full discharge and charge cycles without interruption. After calibration, the displayed percentage aligns with the cell's real state of charge and early shutdowns stop.

My Fujitsu Q702 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" — what's wrong?

The BIOS did not complete a handshake with the new cell's EEPROM on first boot. Power off completely, remove the battery, refit it firmly, then boot directly into BIOS to let the system re-detect the pack. Once the BIOS acknowledges the cell, shut down, plug in the charger, and allow a full uninterrupted charge to 100% before using the laptop on battery.

The Fujitsu Q702 fuel gauge jumps wildly — showing 80%, then 45%, then 90% within minutes of unplugging.

The fuel gauge IC is still mapping its charge curve against the new cell's chemistry. The old calibration data does not match the new cell, so estimates swing until the IC learns the voltage-to-capacity relationship. Run two full discharge cycles to hibernate cutoff, each followed by a full charge to 100% without interruption. The gauge stabilises after those two complete cycles.

System info on my Q702 shows the wrong Wh rating for this replacement battery — is the cell undersized?

The Wh figure shown in system properties pulls from the EEPROM on the installed cell, not from a live measurement. A freshly fitted cell often reports the rated value from its firmware rather than a measured value, and that figure updates only after the BIOS completes at least one full learn cycle. Run one full discharge to hibernate followed by a full charge to 100%. After the learn cycle completes, the system will report 43.92Wh — the correct rated capacity for this pack.
