Fits Lenovo ThinkPad T550, T550s, T560, W550 and replaces OEM part 45N1743, 45N1741, 45N1742, 45N1740, 00NY639, SB10K12721.
11.4V 3900mAh Li-Polymer delivers 44.46Wh — matches original capacity for standard workday unplugged operation on this 15.6-inch business ultrabook.
Connector seats into the internal slot with fixed orientation; locking tab secures flush against the frame without forcing.
We ran full-load discharge and charge cycles on a T550 test unit — BMS responded clean on insertion with no initialization delay or voltage rail instability.
After installation, discharge fully to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings common after cell swaps on ThinkPad platforms.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad T550 / T560 / W550 Series — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (45N1743)

This is an 11.4V, 3900mAh (44.46Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Lenovo ThinkPad T550, T550s, T560, and W550 series laptops. It cross-references OEM part numbers 45N1743, 45N1741, 45N1742, 45N1740, 00NY639, and SB10K12721. Fit the original connector and it seats flush — no modification needed.

  • T550 / T560 / W550 platform compatibility: These models share the same 11.4V three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol used by Lenovo's battery manager firmware — which is why one part number covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad T550 and monitored BMS communication through a full charge cycle. Charge acceptance was normal across all three cell groups, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no rogue cell balancing events.
  • Post-install learn cycle on ThinkPad firmware: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff on battery only, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

Lenovo's power manager reads health data from the battery's EEPROM — a small memory chip that stores cycle count, rated capacity, and charge history. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data does not match what the BIOS previously learned from the old pack, so it flags the new battery as degraded or unknown. This is a firmware calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then an uninterrupted charge to 100% and the BIOS will rewrite its reference data against the new cell.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The gauge estimates remaining capacity using data from the old pack, so it reports 20–30% remaining while the real cell voltage is already near cutoff. Under full CPU and display load, voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts and the laptop shuts down before the display reads zero. Two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles let the fuel gauge IC relearn the voltage-to-capacity curve — after that, the shutdown threshold should align with the display reading at or below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Lenovo Power Manager show "Replace Soon" or 0% health the moment I fit a new battery?

The ThinkPad BIOS reads health metrics from the battery's EEPROM — cycle count, rated Wh, and historical charge data. A new cell carries factory-default EEPROM values the BIOS has never seen before, so it flags the pack as unknown or degraded. It is a calibration mismatch, not a faulty battery. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the BIOS battery learn cycle will overwrite the stale reference data.

My T550 shows a different Wh rating in system info than what the battery specs state — is something wrong?

The Wh figure in Lenovo's system information is pulled directly from the EEPROM on the battery PCB, which stores the manufacturer's rated value at factory default. The actual electrochemical capacity of the cell can differ slightly from that stored figure depending on chemistry batch. This is not a fault — rated EEPROM values and measured Wh rarely match exactly. If the reported figure concerns you, check it again after two full calibration cycles; some ThinkPad firmware versions update the stored value once the learn cycle completes.

New battery charges, but the fuel gauge swings wildly — jumping from 60% to 85% without warning — for the first few days. Is the cell defective?

The fuel gauge IC inside the laptop uses a stored discharge model to estimate remaining capacity. That model was built around the old cell's behaviour, so it gives erratic readings against a new cell with a different internal resistance profile. We see this on the bench after every cell swap — it settles after three to five full discharge-and-charge cycles as the IC rebuilds its model. Let the battery discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff and recharge to 100% on three consecutive cycles; the gauge accuracy will stabilise around 11.4V nominal.
