Fits Lenovo ThinkPad X220, X220i, X220s, and X230 laptops replacing OEM part numbers 0A36307, 45N1025, 45N1022, 45N1023, and 45N1024.
11.1V, 4400mAh capacity delivers 48.84Wh to restore unplugged runtime on aging X220 systems that drop charge mid-session.
Connector type matches OEM latch—slides into the bay from the front and locks flush with the chassis; no modification needed.
We bench-tested against an X220 running full CPU and display load; BMS regulated discharge curve remained flat through 70% capacity before voltage stepped down cleanly at cutoff.
After installation, fully discharge the laptop to hibernation sleep, then charge uninterrupted to 100%—this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears after every cell swap on ThinkPad firmware.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad X220 / X230 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (0A36307)

This is an 11.1V Li-ion battery rated at 4400mAh (48.84Wh), built to fit the ThinkPad X220, X220i, X220s, and X230. It replaces OEM part numbers 0A36307, 45N1022, 45N1023, 45N1024, and 45N1025. The connector, BMS handshake, and physical dimensions match the original Lenovo cell.

  • X220 and X230 platform compatibility: These models share the same 11.1V battery rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol over the SMBus. A single cell works across all four variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad X220 and confirmed the BMS completed a full charge cycle without fault codes. The BIOS recognised the battery as a valid Lenovo cell and reported capacity within the expected range.
  • BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on ThinkPad hardware.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement

The ThinkPad BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM. A new cell ships with factory EEPROM values that do not match the usage history the BIOS expects to see, so it flags the battery as degraded. This is a data mismatch, not a cell fault. Run the learn cycle — discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted — and the BIOS recalibrates against the new cell. After one or two full cycles, the health warning clears and the reported capacity stabilises.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The OS reads a percentage, but the underlying voltage has already dropped below the safe cutoff threshold under full CPU and display load. The battery's BMS triggers a protective shutdown before Windows or Linux can initiate a clean hibernate. To fix this, run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and charge each time to 100% — after that, the fuel gauge tracks the real voltage curve and the early shutdown stops.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ThinkPad X220 shows this battery at 0% and won't charge it — is the cell dead out of the box?

It is not dead. The fuel gauge IC in the new cell has no calibration data yet, so the BIOS reads the EEPROM as blank and reports 0%. Plug in the AC adapter, leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge cycle, and do not use the laptop during this first charge. Once it reaches 100%, the fuel gauge IC initialises and the BIOS starts reading a real percentage.

Windows reports this battery's Wh rating as lower than the 48.84Wh on the product page — why?

The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the rated design capacity. After installation, that EEPROM value may reflect a conservative factory default rather than the full 48.84Wh until the cell completes at least one full discharge-charge cycle. Run a complete cycle — discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% — and the reported Wh value will update to match the actual cell chemistry.

The charge stops at 80% and will not go higher — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. The ThinkPad BIOS includes a charge threshold feature called Battery Charge Threshold, which is controlled under Lenovo Vantage or the Power Manager utility. If the upper threshold is set to 80%, the battery will stop charging there regardless of which cell is installed. Open Lenovo Vantage, navigate to Power settings, and set the stop charging threshold to 100% to allow a full charge.
