Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion Akoya Mini E1311 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY-S14)
This 11.1V 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery replaces OEM part BTY-S14 and BTY-S15 in the Medion Akoya Mini E1311 netbook and related MD-series models. It fits MD97107, MD97295, MD97164, and over a dozen other Akoya Mini variants sharing the same connector and BMS handshake. Capacity figures come from the product data — not extrapolated from web sources.
- Akoya Mini E1311 and MD-series fit: These models share a common 11.1V three-cell architecture, the same physical connector, and a compatible BMS communication protocol. A single cell design spans the full MD97xxx range because Medion kept the battery bay and power rail consistent across that generation of Akoya Mini hardware.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, full load discharge, and BMS handshake verification on Akoya Mini hardware. The BMS cleared correctly, charge acceptance reached rated capacity, and no protection-circuit trips occurred during the test cycle.
- First-cycle calibration on the E1311: After installing, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on Akoya Mini models.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The Akoya Mini E1311 BIOS reads EEPROM data embedded in the original battery cell. When a new cell is installed, that EEPROM data resets, and the BIOS interprets the mismatch as degraded or unknown health. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite its learned battery profile. After two or three full cycles, the health indicator normalises and reports accurately.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The old cell's curve is still cached, so the gauge misreads remaining capacity and the laptop cuts out well before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fix is three full discharge-to-hibernate and full charge cycles — no partial charges in between. After the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdown-at-30% behaviour stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
Windows is showing my Medion Akoya Mini battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after I fitted the new cell — what's happening?
The fuel gauge IC on the E1311 still has the old cell's charge profile cached, so it cannot read the new cell correctly on the first connection. Plug in the charger, leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, then restart the laptop. If the gauge still reads 0%, perform one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff and charge back to 100% — this forces the IC to rewrite its profile against the new cell.
My Akoya Mini E1311 shows the replacement battery Wh rating in system info as different from the spec on the box — is something wrong with the cell?
The Wh figure shown in Windows or battery info utilities is read from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the rated value from the original factory programming. The actual chemistry in a replacement cell can differ slightly from that stored value, creating a mismatch between the displayed Wh and the physical capacity. This is an EEPROM reporting difference, not a capacity defect. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge cycles — the system will settle on a consistent reported figure as it learns the real discharge curve.
The charge on my Medion Akoya Mini stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is that a firmware charge limit or a faulty battery?
The E1311 BIOS includes a charge threshold setting that some units ship with active, capping charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Open the Medion BIOS setup on boot (typically F2 or Delete), locate the battery charge limit or power management section, and confirm the threshold is set to 100%. If no BIOS option exists, check for a Medion battery utility installed in Windows that controls the same setting — disable the limit there, then run a full charge cycle to confirm the cell reaches 11.1V at the charger connector.
