Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo VIBE Z2 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL230)
This 3.8V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the OEM BL230 battery in the Lenovo VIBE Z2, VIBE Z2t, and VIBE Z2w smartphones. It matches the original cell's dimensions at 73.22 × 68.20 × 3.60 mm, so it seats correctly in the battery bay. Voltage and capacity figures come directly from the product data, not web estimates.
- VIBE Z2, Z2t, and Z2w compatibility: All three variants share the BL230 footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell covers the full sub-series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the VIBE Z2 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC reached termination at the correct cutoff voltage without thermal events.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on the VIBE Z2 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle at standard current lets it remap against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the VIBE Z2 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the coulomb-counter data from the degraded original cell. When the new cell's voltage drops under modem or display load, the phone hits a voltage cliff the gauge didn't predict. The system interprets this as a hard undervoltage fault and shuts down before the displayed percentage reaches zero. One full discharge to 0% followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% at standard current forces the IC to rebuild its capacity map against the new cell's actual discharge curve.
Phone reports wrong battery percentage after fitting the BL230 replacement
The VIBE Z2 uses a coulomb counter that tracks charge flowing in and out of the cell over time. After a cell swap, that counter still references the capacity model it built on the worn original — so percentage readings jump, stall, or read higher than actual state of charge. The fix is a calibration cycle: drain the phone fully until it powers off, then charge to 100% without interruption using the stock charger. After that cycle, readings stabilise against the new 3000mAh cell's actual discharge profile.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VIBE Z2 keeps shutting off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC carried over its discharge model from the old, degraded battery, so it miscalculates the voltage cliff on the new cell under modem or screen load. Run one full drain to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard current. After that calibration cycle, the IC rebuilds its capacity map and shutdowns at 20–30% stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my VIBE Z2 — the phone only slow-charges now.
On first contact with a new BMS, the charge IC on the VIBE Z2 often falls back to standard 5V/1A current until it completes a handshake cycle with the replacement cell. This is a protective behaviour, not a fault. Complete one full standard charge to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the proprietary charge protocol should re-negotiate and fast charging resumes. If it does not resume after two cycles, check that the charger output is at least 9V.
The VIBE Z2 won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation.
A lithium-polymer cell stored in a discharged state can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before full charge current begins. Once the screen shows the charging indicator, the BMS has cleared lockout. If no indicator appears after 40 minutes, the cell voltage is too low for trickle recovery and the cell should be replaced.
