Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UMI Emax / Hierro / Super — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Li3834t43p6h886740)

This is a 3.8V, 3300mAh lithium-polymer cell that replaces part number Li3834t43p6h886740 in the UMI Emax, Hierro, and Super smartphones. It matches the original cell's voltage, physical dimensions (87.34 × 65.42 × 3.80mm), and connector layout. Capacity is 3300mAh — 12.54Wh total energy.

  • Emax, Hierro, and Super compatibility: These three UMI models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers all three — no hardware modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, load, and cutoff on the Emax platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a rejection flag, and charge termination fired correctly at 4.35V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. The fuel gauge IC on these UMI models learns the new cell's discharge curve during that first cycle — skipping it leaves the coulomb counter calibrated to the old, degraded cell.

Why the UMI Emax reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the Emax stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When you install a fresh 3300mAh cell, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The gauge reads voltage and compares it against the old model, so it reports percentage values that are off — sometimes by 15–20%. One full standard-rate discharge-charge cycle rewrites the reference curve and brings the display back into alignment.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff event — not a capacity fault. Under heavy load (modem handoff, screen at full brightness, or background sync), the cell's terminal voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge expects from the old discharge model. The system hits the hardware undervoltage threshold before the percentage counter reaches zero and shuts down immediately. Let the phone sit powered off for two minutes after shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After two full cycles, the gauge model updates and the cliff shifts back below 10%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UMI Emax won't turn on after the new battery sat uninstalled for a few weeks — is the cell dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked out below its minimum cell voltage threshold, typically 2.5V per cell on lithium-polymer packs. Leave the phone connected to a wall charger — not a USB port — for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC on the Emax will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the screen stays black past 45 minutes, check that the connector is fully seated and retry — the lock clears automatically once the cell crosses 3.0V.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement — the phone just charges slowly now.

On the first cycle with a new cell, the UMI charge IC runs a verification pass before switching to high-current mode. If the BMS on the new cell doesn't echo back the expected handshake on that first pass, the system falls back to standard 5V/1A charging and stays there until reset. Fully discharge the phone to auto-shutdown, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% using the original UMI charger. That completes the handshake cycle and fast charging re-enables on the next plug-in.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — goes from 45% to 62% then drops to 38% within minutes.

Erratic jumps are the coulomb counter recalibrating against a cell whose discharge curve it hasn't yet mapped. The fuel gauge IC on these UMI models samples voltage and current to estimate state-of-charge, and until it has one complete reference cycle, its estimates swing widely. Run two full discharge-charge cycles at standard rate with the screen on and background sync active — this gives the IC enough data points across the full voltage range to stabilise. After the second cycle, percentage movement should track smoothly within ±3%.
