Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Mi 4i / X9 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BM33)
This is a 3.85V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer cell built to replace a degraded BM33 battery in the Xiaomi Mi 4i and X9 smartphones. Over time, original cells lose usable capacity — this replacement restores the charge the phone originally shipped with. Capacity figures come from the product data, not third-party claims.
- Mi 4i and X9 compatibility: Both models use the same BM33 cell format, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The battery slots into either device without modification — same BMS handshake, same charge IC communication protocol.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on Mi 4i hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC completed a full cycle without interruption. No voltage anomalies were recorded at the connector during load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated reference.
Why the Mi 4i reports the wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Mi 4i uses a coulomb counter tied to the fuel gauge IC, which builds its percentage model against the original cell's discharge curve. When you install a new cell, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour — so the reported percentage drifts. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge down to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete charge to 100%, forces the fuel gauge IC to recalibrate against the new cell. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the new cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still references the old cell's voltage curve and misreads available capacity under load. The modem and display pull current spikes the old calibration did not account for, causing voltage to dip below the BMS cutoff threshold while the UI still shows charge remaining. The fix is the same recalibration cycle — one full discharge to shutdown, one full charge. If shutdowns continue after two full cycles, check the battery connector pins for debris causing high contact resistance, which drops cell voltage artificially under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Mi 4i powers on but shuts off suddenly when the screen brightness is high or a call connects — the percentage still shows 25% when it dies. What's happening?
The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the screen or modem pulls a current spike, the new cell's voltage drops briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold — but the uncalibrated gauge still reads 25%. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. That single cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap against the new cell, and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the BM33 replacement — the phone charges, but only at the slow rate. Is the new battery rejecting the charger?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the Mi 4i sometimes falls back to standard charge rates because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its handshake with the device's charging controller. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Complete one full standard-rate charge cycle first. Fast charging typically resumes on the second cycle once the BMS and charge IC have exchanged the required protocol acknowledgement.
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled in a drawer for several months. Is the cell dead?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage — if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and will not respond to normal power-on attempts. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the BMS releases lockout and the phone boots normally. If the charging indicator never appears after 45 minutes, check that the battery connector is fully seated.
