Fits LG KE970, KE970U, KU970, and related models; replaces OEM part LGIP-470A.
3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell restores full talk and standby time on this compact flip phone.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot; locking tab seats flush against the phone frame.
Bench test showed the BMS accepted charge current immediately; voltage climbed steady to 4.2V without delay.
On first power-up after installation, run one complete discharge cycle before relying on the fuel gauge percentage — the coulomb counter needs to recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG KE970 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LGIP-470A)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell for the LG KE970 and its variants, including the KE970U, KU970, and KE70. It replaces the original LGIP-470A pack in phones where the cell has degraded after repeated charge cycles. Slot dimensions are 43.90 × 37.80 × 5.50mm — confirm your existing pack matches before ordering.

  • KE970 series compatibility: The KE970, KE970U, KU970, and KE70 all share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. One cell fits the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on KE970 hardware. The BMS accepted charge from the phone's internal charge IC without tripping overcurrent protection, and voltage held stable under call-load draw.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, run one complete discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the KE970's fuel gauge IC a full reference curve against the new cell — without it, the percentage readout will track the old cell's degraded curve, not this one.

Why the KE970 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The KE970 uses a simple fuel gauge IC that stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When you fit a new 800mAh cell, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell chemistry. The phone reads voltage and maps it against the old, degraded curve — so 60% on screen may not reflect true state of charge. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by a complete charge resets the reference. After that cycle, the percentage display will track accurately against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the new cell

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. Under modem or backlight load, the cell's terminal voltage drops sharply below what the fuel gauge predicts — the phone's protection circuit sees an unsafe voltage and cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is common on the first few cycles before the fuel gauge IC has recalibrated. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the shutoffs will shift to under 10%. If it persists past three cycles, check that terminal voltage at shutoff is not dropping below 3.2V, which would indicate a cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

The KE970 shuts off randomly while I'm on a call even though it shows 25% battery — is that the new cell failing?

It is not a failed cell — it is a voltage cliff under modem load. When the phone transmits, current draw spikes and the cell's terminal voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicts, triggering a protective shutdown before the percentage hits zero. Run two full discharge-to-shutoff cycles followed by a complete charge each time. After recalibration, the shutdown point drops below 10% remaining.

My KE970 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — is it dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below 2.5V the BMS will have locked out to prevent damage. Connect the phone to its charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without trying to power it on — the charge IC trickle-charges a locked-out cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage climbs above approximately 2.9V, the BMS re-enables and the phone will boot normally.

The battery percentage on my KE970 jumps around erratically — it reads 40%, then 65%, then 30% within minutes of each other.

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and has not yet built a stable reference. This happens because the stored curve from the old, degraded cell does not match the new 800mAh cell's voltage profile. Run one uninterrupted discharge from 100% to auto-shutoff, then charge fully without interruption. The erratic jumping stops once the IC has one complete reference cycle to anchor its calculations.
