Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

LG G4050 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BSL-70G)
This is a 3.7V 850mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the LG G4050 mobile phone. It uses OEM part number BSL-70G and fits both the G4050 and G-4050 model variants. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the handset through a normal day.
- G4050 and G-4050 compatibility: Both model designations share the same chassis, battery bay dimensions, and connector pinout. The BSL-70G seats and connects identically in either variant — no adapter or modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the G4050 platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake immediately, and protection circuits tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no overcharge, no false shutdown above 3.0V.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before normal operation resumes.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the G4050 after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue. The new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the degraded original, so the fuel gauge IC — still calibrated to the old cell — misreads remaining capacity. Under a load spike from the modem or display, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold while the OS still shows 20–30% remaining. The fix is one full discharge cycle with no fast charging, which forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate. After that cycle, the percentage readings stabilise and shutdown behaviour returns to normal.
G4050 reporting incorrect battery percentage after replacement
The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge profile for the cell it was calibrated against. A new cell has different internal resistance and a shifted voltage-to-capacity curve, so early readings will be off — sometimes jumping several percent or dropping faster than expected. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run the phone from 100% down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled. That single cycle re-anchors the fuel gauge IC to the new cell and percentage accuracy returns.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LG G4050 shuts off suddenly around 25% battery — is the new BSL-70G cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the G4050 is calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell, and a new BSL-70G has different internal resistance — so the percentage reading and actual voltage no longer match under load. When the modem or screen draws a current spike, real cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff while the OS still shows 25%. Run one full discharge cycle with fast charging disabled, down to automatic shutoff, then charge back to 100%. That recalibrates the coulomb counter and the shutdowns stop.
The G4050 won't power on at all after the BSL-70G sat in storage for a few months — what happened?
A Li-ion cell in storage self-discharges slowly. If the BSL-70G dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS entered a lockout state to prevent damage — and the phone will not power on from that state. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a USB port, and leave it untouched for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to push a small trickle current through the cell to bring voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold, which is around 2.9V, before normal charging resumes.
The battery percentage on my G4050 jumps around erratically — sometimes 60%, then 45%, then back up without charging anything.
Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are caused by the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new BSL-70G discharge curve. The IC uses a coulomb counter that was trained on the old, degraded cell — so early readings on the new cell are unreliable until the counter has a full reference cycle to work from. Let the G4050 discharge fully to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session with fast charging turned off in settings. After that cycle the fuel gauge IC locks onto the new cell curve and the jumping stops.
