LG VS840 Lucid Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-44JS)
This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the LG VS840 and its variants, including the Lucid, Lucid 4G, and Cayman. It uses the OEM part number BL-44JS and matches the original cell's physical dimensions at 65.00 × 43.80 × 4.50mm. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a normal day.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the VS840 after a cell swap
The VS840's fuel gauge IC retains the learned discharge curve of the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC has no accurate data for where voltage drops sharply. At around 3.5V — which can correspond to 20–30% in a miscalibrated gauge — the phone hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load and shuts off before the reported percentage reaches zero. Running two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption gives the coulomb counter enough data to correct the curve. After calibration, shutdowns at falsely high percentages stop.
Phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges
A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first few charge cycles, the charge IC pushes current into higher resistance, which converts more energy to heat than usual. This is temporary — impedance drops as the cell cycles. If the phone surface temperature stays below roughly 40°C and cools within a few minutes of unplugging, no action is needed. If it stays hot after unplugging, check that the charge port is clear and retry with the original cable.

The LG VS840 powers on but shows a completely wrong battery percentage — sometimes jumping from 60% to 15% in minutes. What's causing this?
The fuel gauge IC on the VS840 was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. After a cell swap, that curve no longer matches, so percentage readings are inaccurate and can jump erratically. Run two uninterrupted full discharge-charge cycles — let the phone drain until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without unplugging early. After both cycles, the coulomb counter recalibrates against the new cell and readings stabilise.
The VS840 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months before I installed it.
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if voltage drops below roughly 2.5V the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent damage — the phone will not power on from this state. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing any buttons. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a low rate until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, at which point the phone will power on normally.
Fast charging worked fine before, but after swapping the BL-44JS into my VS840 it only charges at the slow rate now.
On the first cycle after installation, the BMS in a new cell has not yet confirmed its internal resistance and thermal profile to the phone's charge IC. Some charge ICs respond by defaulting to standard charge current rather than the higher fast-charge rate. Complete one full discharge-charge cycle at the standard rate, then reconnect to a fast charger. The charge IC re-reads the BMS parameters on the second cycle and typically restores the higher charge rate.
