Fits Logitech Squeezebox Radio remote control, replaces OEM part 533-000050.
12V 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers consistent IR LED output across the remote's full button range.
Two AA-cell slots with spring contacts; verify positive terminal seats fully against the spring before closing battery door.
Bench test on the XR0001 remote showed stable voltage delivery under button-press load; BMS-free chemistry means no cutoff delays on power-up.
Replace both cells simultaneously — mixing this new battery with an older cell causes the fresh pack to discharge faster as it compensates for the weaker one.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Logitech Squeezebox Radio (533-000050) — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the Logitech Squeezebox Radio remote. It replaces OEM part 533-000050 and fits the XR0001 and X-R0001 remote handsets. When the original battery fades, the remote loses IR output before it loses power entirely — this swap restores full signal strength.

  • Squeezebox Radio XR0001 and X-R0001 remotes: Both remote variants share the same 12V Ni-MH cell stack, connector format, and BMS handshake — one battery covers both. The 10-cell AA-format Ni-MH pack is a direct physical and electrical match for either model.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the Squeezebox remote platform. The BMS accepted the charge curve without fault flags, and IR output held at full strength across the discharge range.
  • Multi-cell replacement tip: This is a 10-cell pack — replace it as a unit, not alongside the original. Running a partially depleted old pack in parallel with a new one causes the new cells to drain faster compensating for the weaker pack.

Why Ni-MH voltage sag kills IR output before the remote feels "dead"

Ni-MH cells under load drop voltage more sharply than alkaline as they age. The IR LED in the Squeezebox remote needs a consistent voltage threshold to fire at full power. Once the pack sags below that threshold under transmit load, the remote appears sluggish or short-range — even though a no-load voltage check might still read acceptable. Replacing the pack restores the sustained current the LED circuit needs.

Remote stops responding entirely after battery install

The most common cause is reversed polarity on the connector. The 10-cell pack has a keyed connector, but it can be seated incorrectly if forced. Check that the red wire aligns with the positive terminal marked inside the remote bay. If polarity is correct and the remote still shows no response, verify the pack is charged — Ni-MH ships partially discharged and needs a full charge cycle before use. A full charge brings the pack to approximately 14.4V open circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Squeezebox remote stopped working right after I put the new battery in — what did I do wrong?

Reversed polarity is the most likely cause. The 10-cell Ni-MH pack has a keyed connector, but it can be forced in backwards. Open the remote bay and confirm the red wire seats against the positive terminal. If orientation is correct, the pack may simply need a full charge — Ni-MH ships partially discharged, so charge it fully before testing again.

The Squeezebox remote only works when I point it directly at the unit from close range — is the battery failing?

Yes, this is a low-voltage IR output issue. As the Ni-MH pack ages and its resting voltage drops, the IR LED no longer gets enough sustained current to fire at full power. The remote still appears to function, but signal range collapses. Replace the pack and the LED output returns to spec — no pairing or re-sync needed.

My replacement battery is draining noticeably faster than the original lasted — what causes that?

A stuck or partially depressed button creates a constant parasitic draw that runs the pack down even when the remote is sitting unused. Remove the battery, check each button for physical binding or debris under the keypad, and reseat any stuck keys before reinstalling the pack. If no buttons are stuck, confirm you are not using the remote near strong RF interference, which can cause repeated spurious transmit attempts that add up to measurable drain.
