Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ESPN DMR-1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CH603448S1P)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion battery that replaces part number CH603448S1P in the ESPN DMR-1 remote control. It restores wireless transmission function to the remote when the original cell has depleted or failed. Dimensions are 52.20 x 34.25 x 6.37mm — confirm against your existing cell before installing.

  • DMR-1 compatibility: The DMR-1 remote runs on a single Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches the OEM voltage rail and connector footprint, so the remote's IR transmission circuit operates at the correct drive level.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold and recovered cleanly on recharge — no BMS lockout observed.
  • Post-install orientation check: Li-ion pouch cells in remotes have a keyed connector, but confirm the polarity markings on the connector match the remote's socket before closing the housing. A reversed connection won't damage the cell, but the remote will not power on.

IR output drop on the DMR-1 as cell voltage falls

The DMR-1's IR LED driver needs a stable voltage to push enough current through the emitter for a clean signal. As the Li-ion cell discharges past roughly 3.4V, the LED drive current drops below the threshold needed for reliable transmission. The remote may still appear "on" — the indicator light might flash — but the IR burst loses the range and intensity needed to register on the receiver. Replacing the cell when resting voltage reads below 3.5V prevents this gradual dropout.

Remote stops responding after the battery is replaced

The most common cause is connector polarity. Even though the DMR-1 uses a keyed Li-ion connector, the housing can be reassembled with the cable seated at a slight angle, breaking contact intermittently. Open the remote, reseat the connector firmly until it clicks, then test. If the remote still won't respond, measure the replacement cell's voltage with a multimeter — a new cell should read at least 3.6V at rest before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ESPN DMR-1 remote stopped working right after I put in the new battery — what did I do wrong?

The connector is the first thing to check. Li-ion pouch connectors in remotes seat fully only when you hear or feel a positive click — a partially inserted connector makes intermittent contact that prevents the remote from powering on. Reopen the housing, disconnect and firmly reseat the connector, then test before closing up. If it still won't respond, measure the new cell's voltage with a multimeter; it should read 3.6V or higher before installation.

My DMR-1 remote works, but now I have to point it directly at the device and stand much closer than before — is the battery the cause?

Yes. A Li-ion cell below roughly 3.4V can no longer drive the IR LED at full current, so the emitter produces a weaker burst that loses range and spread angle. The remote functions at close range because the receiver can still pick up the weakened signal when aimed precisely, but usable distance collapses. Check resting cell voltage — if it reads below 3.5V, replace the cell to restore normal IR output strength.

The new battery in my ESPN DMR-1 seems to be draining much faster than the original — what causes that?

A stuck or jammed button is the most common culprit. If any button on the DMR-1 is physically held down — by debris under the keypad or a warped housing — the remote fires IR pulses continuously, drawing constant current from the cell. Remove the back cover, inspect the keypad membrane for any button that doesn't spring back fully, and clear any debris underneath it. After cleaning, reinstall the battery and check that no button is depressed before closing the housing.
