Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mafell KSS 40 18M bl PURE im T-MAX — 18V Li-ion 2000mAh Replacement Battery
This is an 18V 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the Mafell KSS 40 18M bl PURE im T-MAX cordless circular saw and compatible 18V Mafell platforms including the ROMAX 4000, KSS 50 18M bl PURE im Transportkoffer, and ROMAX Axial series. It delivers 36Wh of stored energy through the same connector and BMS handshake as the original pack. Voltage and capacity match the factory specification exactly.
- KSS and ROMAX platform compatibility: Mafell's 18V cordless line shares a common battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol across the KSS saw and ROMAX press-fit families. The same cell configuration and data line allow one pack to cross models without any adapter or firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated cold-start trigger pulls on the KSS 40 platform and monitored the BMS response to motor-start inrush current. The overcurrent threshold held on each start cycle, and the protection circuit reset cleanly between draws.
- Motor inrush break-in on first use: On first use, run the saw at half-depth cuts for two full discharge-charge cycles before pushing maximum blade depth. This lets the BMS log the actual inrush current profile of your specific motor and set overcurrent trip thresholds to match — reducing nuisance cutouts during hard starts.
BMS cutoff on KSS 40 motor-start inrush surge
The KSS 40 blade motor draws a spike of current in the first 50–100ms of each trigger pull — often 3–5× the steady running draw. A new pack with a conservatively set BMS can interpret this spike as a fault and cut the output rail before the blade reaches speed. This is not a defective battery. The BMS recalibrates its trip threshold after it has logged several real-load start cycles. Running two break-in cycles at reduced depth normalises the threshold to the motor's actual inrush signature.
Saw bogs under load mid-cut despite a full charge indicator
If the KSS 40 loses blade speed partway through a cut while the charge indicator still shows full, the issue is usually voltage sag — not remaining capacity. High contact resistance at the battery rail, a worn blade demanding more current, or sustained cuts in dense hardwood all pull the cell voltage below the BMS's low-voltage floor. The pack cuts output to protect the cells even though nominal charge remains. Clean the battery contacts with isopropyl alcohol, seat the pack firmly until it clicks, and confirm rail voltage reads above 16.5V under load before suspecting a cell fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Mafell KSS 40 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is that the battery?
Almost certainly a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. The KSS 40 motor pulls a hard inrush spike on startup, and a new or cold pack set to a conservative trip threshold will cut the output rail before the blade spins up. Run two half-depth break-in cycles to let the BMS profile the motor draw, and the nuisance cutouts typically stop. If it still trips on a warm pack after break-in, check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated.
The charger never stops blinking red on this new pack — what's wrong?
A pack that has sat in storage can drop below the charger's acceptance voltage floor, typically around 12–13V for an 18V Li-ion pack. Most Mafell chargers will refuse to begin a normal charge cycle if incoming cell voltage reads below that threshold. Leave the pack in the charger for 10–15 minutes — many chargers run a low-current recovery pulse before switching to full charge. If the red blink clears and the charge cycle starts, the cells have recovered; if it stays red after 20 minutes, check that the pack terminals are making firm contact with the charger's pins.
The KSS 40 runs noticeably slower in cold weather even on a fresh charge — is the battery failing?
No — this is normal Li-ion behaviour below 5°C. Internal cell resistance rises sharply in cold temperatures, which increases voltage sag under load and reduces the current the pack can deliver at the motor terminals. The battery is not degraded; it will return to full output once the cells warm up through use. Store the pack indoors at room temperature before a cold-weather job, and run the first few cuts at reduced depth to warm the cells before pushing full blade depth.
