Fits Magellan RoadMate 1300 and 1340 GPS navigators, replacing OEM part 338937010172.
3.7V 720mAh Li-ion cell delivers consistent power for sustained GPS operation and route storage backup.
Connector type slides into battery slot with positive contact alignment; locking tab seats flush against device frame.
We bench-tested this cell in a RoadMate 1340 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles.
After installing this battery, power the GPS fully on outdoors and let it acquire satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs cold start after power interruption requiring 5–10 minutes for first lock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Magellan RoadMate 1300 / 1340 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (338937010172)

This 3.7V 720mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Magellan RoadMate 1300 and RoadMate 1340 portable GPS navigators. It restores independent operation and maintains power when the vehicle ignition is off. Dimensions are 50.07 × 36.07 × 6.29mm — confirm fit before ordering if your unit has been serviced previously.

  • RoadMate 1300 and 1340 fitment: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail — one cell covers both. The BMS communicates charge state to the same firmware on either unit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the RoadMate platform. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 4.2V and the low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly without triggering a hard reset loop.
  • First outdoor fix after installation: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. GPS firmware performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first fix takes 5–10 minutes outdoors. Subsequent warm starts are under a minute.

Why the RoadMate 1300 shuts off without a low-battery warning

The RoadMate 1300 reads charge state from a calibration curve stored in firmware. When a new or heavily discharged cell is fitted, that curve is misaligned with the actual cell voltage. The unit can show two or three bars on the battery indicator and then cut off seconds later — the BMS trips at its voltage floor before the display reflects the real state. Run two or three full charge cycles to let the firmware recalibrate the indicator against the new cell's discharge curve.

GPS accuracy dropping as battery charge falls below half

Some RoadMate units reduce RF receiver gain at lower supply voltages to protect core navigation functions. This shows up as wider position error circles or momentary track jumps in areas where signal is already marginal. The supply voltage floor where this kicks in is around 3.5V. Keep the unit connected to vehicle power during long routes — reserve battery power for short stops and parking lot navigation rather than extended highway use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My RoadMate 1300 lost all my saved favourites and routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The RoadMate 1300 holds saved POIs and some route data in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that RAM loses power and clears. Re-enter your saved locations after the swap — they cannot be recovered from the old cell. Back up favourites to a computer via Magellan Content Manager before any future battery work.

It took over eight minutes to get a satellite fix after fitting this battery — is something wrong with the GPS?

Nothing is wrong. A full power interruption forces the GPS receiver into a cold start — it has lost its last known position, time, and satellite almanac data. First fix outdoors with clear sky view takes 5–10 minutes. Stand still in an open area and let it complete the fix before driving. Every subsequent warm start will lock in under a minute.

My RoadMate 1340 drains the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating than when I just have it sitting idle — what's causing that?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display at full brightness, and recalculates routes in real time — all three draw current simultaneously. Idle or standby mode drops the receiver to a low-power tracking state and dims the screen. Reduce display brightness to 50% or lower in the display settings to cut draw noticeably during long navigation sessions.
