Medion Gopal E 3215 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Medion Gopal E 3215 portable GPS navigator. It fits both the gopal E 3215 and E3215 variants. When the original cell no longer holds charge, this replacement restores the unit to full navigating capability.

• Gopal E 3215 fit: The E 3215 and E3215 share the same battery bay dimensions and voltage rail at 3.7V. The cell measures 53.90 × 34.70 × 5.20mm — the same footprint as the factory cell — so the connector seats without modification.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a GPS navigation unit running continuous route calculation. The protection circuit held cutoff voltage correctly and did not trip during normal GPS receiver load.
• Cold-start satellite fix after fitting: After fitting this cell and powering the unit on, take the Gopal E 3215 outdoors before first use. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — the GPS receiver discards its last known almanac data and the first satellite fix can take 5 to 10 minutes. Subsequent starts from warm state are significantly faster.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery charge drops below 20%

Some GPS receivers step down RF sensitivity as voltage sags near the low-battery threshold. On the Gopal E 3215, this can appear as position drift or a weaker satellite signal count shown on the status bar. The root cause is the receiver pulling back power draw to stay within what the cell can supply at low state of charge. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load prevents this behaviour.

Gopal E 3215 shuts off without any low-battery warning

After a battery swap, the fuel gauge IC on the Gopal E 3215 loses its calibration reference and no longer accurately maps remaining capacity to the charge indicator. The display can show two or three bars and then the unit cuts off seconds later. This happens because the BMS protection circuit hits the hardware cutoff voltage — typically 3.0V under load — before the software indicator catches up. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles to allow the gauge to recalibrate against the new cell.
