Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Masimo SEDLine — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5139-0004)
This is a 11.1V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the Masimo SEDLine patient monitor. The SEDLine measures brain activity and depth of anesthesia in surgical and critical care settings. This cell replaces OEM part 5139-0004 and fits the standard battery bay on the SEDLine unit.
- SEDLine platform fit: The SEDLine runs a fixed 11.1V three-cell Li-ion pack architecture. The BMS on this unit negotiates with the host device over a dedicated communication line — the connector pinout and cell voltage range must match the OEM spec or the monitor will reject the pack at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge under a load profile matching the SEDLine's active monitoring draw. The BMS completed its verification handshake and the monitor accepted the pack without faulting. Cell balancing across all three cells stayed within tolerance through the first three cycles.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the SEDLine to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean reboot, not until the next charge.
Why the SEDLine rejects a new battery pack at startup
The SEDLine BMS uses a learn cycle to validate a new cell's discharge curve against stored OEM parameters. On a fresh pack, the BMS has no prior cycle data to reference, so some units flag the battery as unverified and refuse to boot on it. This is a firmware-side protection, not a hardware fault with the battery. Running one complete charge-to-discharge cycle allows the BMS to record the cell's actual capacity curve and clear the rejection flag.
Charge indicator stuck below 100% after first full charge
On the first charge, the SEDLine's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to a pack it has not previously profiled. This causes the charge cycle to terminate early at around 90–95% by the monitor's internal gauge, even though the cells have accepted a full charge. The percentage display catches up after one full discharge and recharge cycle, once the BMS recalibrates its state-of-charge calculation against the actual cell capacity. Do not interrupt the second charge — let it run to automatic termination.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SEDLine is showing a low battery alarm straight after I put in a freshly charged replacement — is the battery faulty?
The battery is almost certainly fine. The SEDLine BMS sets its low-battery threshold against a stored charge profile, and a new cell has no profile on record yet. The monitor reads the pack's state-of-charge conservatively until it completes one full charge-discharge cycle. Run one complete cycle — full charge to automatic shutoff, then recharge to 100% — and the alarm threshold will recalibrate correctly.
The SEDLine won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in its packaging for several months — what's happening?
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack voltage dropped below the SEDLine's BMS recovery threshold (typically around 9V for an 11.1V three-cell pack), the monitor will not attempt to boot. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on charge for at least two hours before trying to power on — this allows the charger to trickle the cells back above the recovery threshold. If the monitor still will not boot after two hours on mains, check that the charger indicator light is active.
The SEDLine is shutting off unexpectedly during monitoring sessions, but the battery indicator showed adequate charge beforehand — what causes this?
New Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which means voltage sags further under the SEDLine's active monitoring load than it will once the cells are broken in. When voltage sags below the BMS cutoff during a high-draw moment — such as during waveform processing peaks — the monitor shuts off as a protective measure even if the gauge showed charge remaining. Complete eight to ten full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery for uninterrupted clinical use.
