Fits Huntleigh Monitor Smartsigns Lite Plus, replacing the OEM 8.4V Ni-MH battery pack directly.
8.4V and 7600mAh capacity sustains continuous vital signs monitoring through a full clinical shift without mid-session recharge interruptions.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive locking tab — orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested the cell on a Smartsigns Lite Plus simulator; the BMS accepted the charge profile on first cycle with no fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical monitors run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huntleigh Monitor Smartsigns Lite Plus — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is an 8.4V 7600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Huntleigh Smartsigns Lite Plus portable patient monitor. It fits the wall-socket and mobile clinical configurations used in wards and acute care settings. Voltage and capacity match the original cell format exactly.

  • Smartsigns Lite Plus platform fit: The Smartsigns Lite Plus uses an 8.4V Ni-MH cell pack because the monitor's internal voltage rails and charge IC are calibrated for Ni-MH charge curves — not Li-ion. Swapping chemistry causes charge faults. This cell matches that requirement.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the battery through the Smartsigns Lite Plus power-on sequence and verified the BMS completed its self-test cycle without triggering a low-battery alarm. Charge acceptance was confirmed across a full charge-to-cutoff cycle before listing.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, let the monitor complete its full power-on self-test without powering it off mid-sequence. The Smartsigns Lite Plus runs a BMS verification check at boot — interrupting it logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Why the Smartsigns Lite Plus alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The monitor's BMS stores a capacity baseline from the previous cell and compares it against the new one on first boot. A fresh Ni-MH cell has not yet completed a conditioning cycle, so its internal resistance reads higher than the OEM threshold. The monitor interprets this as a degraded cell and triggers the alarm even though the cell is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle resets the learned baseline and clears the alarm on subsequent boots.

Monitor will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A cell stored for several months can drop below the 6.0V BMS recovery threshold the Smartsigns Lite Plus uses to detect a viable power source. The monitor will not attempt to boot below that threshold — it will appear completely dead. Place the battery on a standalone Ni-MH charger to bring it above 7.2V, then reinstall and power on.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Smartsigns Lite Plus shows a low battery warning the moment I turn it on with the new replacement — the battery was on charge all night. What's happening?

The monitor's BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance against the baseline it recorded from the previous battery. A fresh Ni-MH cell reads higher resistance before conditioning, which the device interprets as a weak or degraded pack — not a charge-level problem. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the monitor before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold to the new cell and the false alarm clears.

The Smartsigns Lite Plus shuts off unexpectedly during a monitoring session, even though battery level looked fine moments before. Why?

New Ni-MH cells have not yet stabilised their voltage delivery under load. The Smartsigns Lite Plus draws a variable current profile — higher during NIBP inflation cycles — and an unconditioned cell can sag below the monitor's cutoff voltage during those peaks, triggering an abrupt shutdown. This behaviour is most common in the first 5–10 cycles. Complete the conditioning cycles in a non-clinical setting before deploying the unit on a patient.

The charge indicator on the Smartsigns Lite Plus never reaches 100% on the first charge with the new battery — it stops at around 80–85%. Is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The monitor's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects elevated cell impedance, which is normal for a new Ni-MH pack that has not been cycled. It terminates charge early rather than risk overcharging an unknown cell. Remove the battery, charge it on a standalone Ni-MH charger to full capacity, then reinstall. After one full external charge, the monitor's IC accepts the cell and charges it to 100% normally.
