Fits Medimex PD-1 and LS 285 Defibrillator units requiring sealed lead-acid replacement cells.
12V, 2300mAh sealed lead-acid delivers sustained power for portable medical equipment operation.
Connector type and slot orientation match OEM housing; physical dimensions 178 x 66.6 x 35mm.
We bench-tested this cell on simulated defibrillator discharge cycles; BMS accepted full charge without fault codes.
After installation, allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical equipment runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MEDIMEX INC PD-1 / LS 285 Defibrillator — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead-acid replacement battery for the MEDIMEX INC PD-1 and LS 285 Defibrillator. It fits the internal battery bay directly and matches the original voltage and capacity spec. This battery is intended for clinical and emergency-use environments where the original cell has degraded or failed.

  • PD-1 and LS 285 compatibility: Both devices share the same 12V sealed lead-acid platform, battery bay dimensions, and connector interface. The BMS on each device reads terminal voltage and internal resistance at startup — this cell matches that handshake without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran a full charge-discharge cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, cleared the low-battery flag, and held voltage within spec under a simulated clinical load. The first cycle calibrates the charge IC to the new cell's internal resistance curve.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The LS 285 and PD-1 run a BMS verification routine at boot — cutting power mid-sequence writes a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot cycle.

Defibrillator not completing boot sequence on new battery

The PD-1 and LS 285 run a startup self-test that checks resting terminal voltage before allowing full boot. A new sealed lead-acid cell can sit below the BMS acceptance threshold if it discharged during storage — even slightly. The device interprets this as a failed or missing battery and halts the boot sequence. Connect the device to mains power first, allow the battery to charge fully, then reboot without interrupting the self-test cycle.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge cycle

On the first charge, the LS 285's charge IC applies a conservative current limit while it reads the new cell's impedance. This causes the indicator to stall — typically between 85–95% — before the algorithm adjusts. It is not a faulty cell or a faulty charger. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the charge IC will recalibrate; the indicator will reach 100% on the second charge. Do not use the device clinically until this first full cycle is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PD-1 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The BMS compares resting terminal voltage against a threshold calibrated to a conditioned cell — a brand-new sealed lead-acid battery reads slightly higher internal resistance on the first cycle, which can trigger the alarm even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before treating the alarm as a fault. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold and the alarm clears.

The LS 285 shut off unexpectedly mid-use after the battery swap — what caused that?

Sealed lead-acid cells deliver less stable voltage under load during the first 5–10 cycles while the plates condition. The defibrillator's BMS monitors voltage sag under clinical load and cuts off if it drops below approximately 10.5V — new cells hit this threshold faster than a conditioned cell would. This is not a defect; it is expected behaviour in early cycles. Complete the full BMS learn cycle — at least one full charge-discharge — before returning the device to clinical use.

The PD-1 battery sat in storage for several months and now the device will not power on at all — can it be recovered?

Sealed lead-acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month, and if terminal voltage drops below around 10V the BMS will not initiate a charge cycle. Connect the device to mains power for a minimum of 12 hours using the original charger — most charge ICs include a trickle-recovery mode that slowly brings a deeply discharged cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. If terminal voltage recovers above 11V, a normal charge cycle will complete and the device will boot.
