Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion Life X4701 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI37200F)
This 3.7V 2000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original LI37200F battery in the Medion Life X4701 smartphone (also listed as MD 98272). It fits the same physical footprint at 60.68 × 56.00 × 5.12 mm and connects via the original flex connector without modification. Capacity is 2000mAh (7.4Wh), matching the factory specification.
- Life X4701 and MD 98272 compatibility: Both model numbers refer to the same hardware platform sharing identical voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements — this cell meets all three.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the X4701 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, thermal events, or mid-cycle cutoffs.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before accepting high-current charging — skipping this step causes erratic percentage reporting in the first few days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Medion Life X4701
This is the most common complaint after a cell swap on this platform. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve — it no longer knows where the real voltage cliff sits on the new cell. When the modem fires during a call or the screen brightness spikes, current draw pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge reads zero. The fix is one full discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge, which forces the coulomb counter to resync. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.
X4701 not powering on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells that drop below approximately 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout to prevent damage — the phone will not respond to the power button and shows no charge indicator. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a USB port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC on the motherboard will trickle current into the cell until it clears the lockout threshold, after which normal charging resumes. If the phone still shows no sign of life after 45 minutes on a wall charger, check that the flex connector is fully seated.

Frequently Asked Questions
The X4701 shuts off mid-call even though the screen still shows 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?
Almost certainly not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC on the X4701 is still reading from the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage shown does not match where the new cell's voltage actually drops under load. A voice call pulls enough current to collapse cell voltage below the BMS cutoff before the gauge reaches zero. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown and then a full uninterrupted charge — after that cycle the coulomb counter resyncs to the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the LI37200F replacement — the phone only trickle charges now.
This happens on the first cycle after a cell swap. The charge IC uses the BMS handshake to negotiate charge rate, and on a brand-new cell with no charge history it defaults to a conservative current until it confirms the cell is responding normally. Plug into a wall charger and let the first charge complete fully without interruption. On the second and subsequent cycles, the charge IC should resume normal charge rate — if it does not, check that the flex connector is fully latched, as a partial connection limits current negotiation.
The battery percentage on my X4701 jumps around erratically — goes from 60% up to 75% then drops back.
The fuel gauge IC on this platform uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance and capacity curve. A new cell has different impedance characteristics, so the counter mismeasures charge state until it completes at least one full reference cycle. The percentage will jump and drift until that calibration completes. Discharge the phone to automatic shutdown, charge it to 100% in one uninterrupted session, and the readings will stabilise — typically within one to two further cycles after that.
