Fits Samsung Galaxy A9, Galaxy A9 2016, and SM-A9000 variants; replaces OEM part EB-BA900ABE.
3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full talk time and standby duration lost to age-related degradation.
Connector slides onto the phone's internal contact pads with a flat orientation; no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this cell against the Galaxy A9 fuel gauge IC; BMS accepted the new discharge curve on power-up with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy A9 2016 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BA900ABE)

This is a 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Samsung Galaxy A9 and Galaxy A9 2016 series, including the Duos TD-LTE and SM-A9000 variants. It replaces part number EB-BA900ABE when the original cell can no longer hold adequate charge through a full day of use. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — 15.4Wh total energy.

  • Galaxy A9 2016 series compatibility: The SM-A9000, A9 2016 standard, and Duos TD-LTE models all share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the entire production run without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SM-A9000 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with Samsung's charge IC, accepted current without fault codes, and held voltage within spec across the full state-of-charge range.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the coulomb counter a clean reference cycle against the new cell's actual discharge curve before adaptive charging routines take over.

Why the Galaxy A9 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

Samsung's fuel gauge IC builds a discharge model from hundreds of charge cycles on the original cell. When you install a new cell, that stored model no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity curve of the fresh battery. The IC keeps reading state of charge against the old curve, so the percentage shown on screen can be off by 10–20% in either direction. One full uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge resets the coulomb counter and forces the IC to map the new cell from scratch.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff — not a capacity fault. Under peak load from the modem, GPS, or screen at full brightness, the cell's internal resistance causes voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the reported percentage still looks adequate. It happens most often on a freshly installed cell before the fuel gauge has recalibrated. Run the recalibration cycle first. If shutdowns persist after one full cycle, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and worsens sag under load, typically triggering cutoff at 3.2V or below.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Galaxy A9 shows 25% and then just cuts off with no warning — is that the new battery or the phone?

That's a voltage sag cutoff, not a defective cell. Under modem or display load, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC expects because the IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve. If shutdowns continue after that single calibration cycle, reseat the battery connector to rule out elevated contact resistance.

Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery — the phone only trickle charges now.

Samsung's adaptive fast charge protocol negotiates with the BMS on the first cycle after a new cell is installed. Some cells will not accept the higher charge rate until the fuel gauge IC completes at least one full cycle and confirms cell health to the charge IC. Let the phone charge slowly to 100% once without interruption. After that initial cycle, fast charging resumes on most SM-A9000 units. If it still does not engage, verify the charger outputs at least 9V/1.67A — the Galaxy A9 2016 requires that threshold to trigger adaptive fast charge mode.

My Galaxy A9 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months before I installed it.

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage — the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC port, and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a safe rate until voltage recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V, after which the phone will boot normally.
