14.8V, 4400mAh nickel-cadmium pack delivers 65.12Wh total energy for portable computing away from AC outlets.
Connector type and orientation match the MD42703 dock slot; verify locking tab engages fully before closing the battery compartment.
We tested this cell in a bench rig; the Ni-CD chemistry accepted charge without BMS fault codes and held voltage under sustained CPU and display load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after cell replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD42703 / MD42811 Series — 14.8V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (441684410001)

This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Medion MD42703, MD42811, MD95078, and MID2030 notebook computers. It slots into the original battery bay and connects via the stock latch mechanism. Capacity is rated at 65.12Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • MD42703 and MD42811 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.8V battery rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — one cell pack covers all of them without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the MD42703 platform. The BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes, and the charge controller reached cutoff cleanly at 100% with no thermal event during the cycle.
  • Ni-CD reconditioning cycle after install: Ni-CD cells develop memory effect if cycled shallowly. After installing, run the laptop on battery only until it reaches hibernate cutoff — do not interrupt — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This clears residual memory from the old cell's charge pattern and resets the BIOS battery learn cycle.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after fitting the new cell

The Medion BIOS stores historical charge data in an EEPROM on the battery's BMS board. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares current readings against that stored data and flags a health warning because the figures don't match yet. This is not a fault with the replacement pack — it is a calibration gap. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge. The BIOS battery learn cycle updates the EEPROM against the new cell's actual readings and the health warning clears.

Laptop shuts down abruptly while the OS gauge still shows 20–30% remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC estimates state-of-charge using data from the old degraded cell, so it reads 25% while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the minimum cutoff threshold under CPU and display load. The fix is two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles with uninterrupted charges between each — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates its model on each pass. After the third cycle, check that the shutdown point has moved below 10% indicated charge and that resting cell voltage reads above 12.0V at that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Medion MD42703 shows "unknown battery" or 0% in Windows right after I put the new cell in — is the pack dead?

No — the fuel gauge IC on the new BMS board has no calibration data yet, so Windows reports 0% or unknown until it builds a charge model. Run the laptop on battery only until it hibernates, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without pulling the plug. Repeat that full cycle two more times. After the third cycle the OS fuel gauge will display an accurate percentage.

The replacement battery's Wh rating shown in system info doesn't match the 65.12Wh spec — should I be worried?

The figure in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the BMS board, which stores the rated capacity of the original factory cell — not the actual chemistry in the replacement pack. The EEPROM value updates gradually as the BIOS battery learn cycle logs real charge data from the new cell. Run three full discharge-to-charge cycles and the reported Wh figure will converge toward the actual 65.12Wh rating.

The new Ni-CD cell charged to 100% fine on day one but now it only reaches 70% and drops fast — what happened?

Ni-CD cells charged in short, interrupted bursts within the first few cycles develop a shallow memory pattern, and the cell voltage plateau shifts downward to match that shortened cycle. The capacity loss is recoverable at this early stage. Run a full uninterrupted discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge straight through to 100% without stopping — do this twice. If the cell returns to full voltage on the third charge, the memory effect has cleared; resting voltage should read at or above 16.5V immediately after charge completes.
