Fits Meister Craft MAS144, MAS144VL cordless drills and impact drivers replacing OEM part 5451170.
14.4V 3000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 43.2Wh — sufficient for full-day mixed drilling and fastening without mid-shift swaps.
Connector slides straight into the tool battery slot with positive contact rail alignment and rear locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this pack on a MAS144 drill motor startup — BMS held steady through trigger inrush without nuisance cutoff.
On first use with this 14.4V pack, run the tool at half throttle for two cycles before full-torque fastening work to let the BMS profile motor current draw.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Meister Craft MAS144 / MAS144VL — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5451170)

This is a 14.4V 3000mAh Li-ion battery for Meister Craft cordless tools — specifically the MAS144, MAS144VL, and 5450880 models. It slots into the same port as the original pack and communicates with the same BMS handshake the charger expects. Capacity is 3000mAh (43.2Wh), matching the original specification.

  • MAS144 and MAS144VL compatibility: Both models run on the same 14.4V rail and share the same connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. The 5450880 part number is the OEM battery these tools shipped with — this pack is built to the same electrical spec.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through motor-start inrush loads on a 14.4V drill platform. The BMS handled repeated trigger-pull current spikes without tripping into overcurrent cutoff, and cell voltage recovery between draws stayed within the expected window.
  • First-use load conditioning: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before any maximum-torque applications. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and calibrate overcurrent protection thresholds before you push it hard.

BMS cutoff on drill motor-start inrush surge

When you pull the trigger on a drill or impact driver, current spikes sharply in the first milliseconds before the motor reaches speed. A new pack — especially one coming out of storage — can have a stiff BMS that interprets this inrush as an overcurrent fault and shuts the pack down immediately. The fix is to run two or three short, low-load cycles first so the BMS accumulates inrush data and widens its fault threshold. After conditioning, the pack should sustain full trigger pulls without cutting out.

Charger not recognising the pack after extended storage

Li-ion packs stored for several months can drop below 2.5V per cell — the minimum voltage most chargers need to begin a charge cycle. If the charger blinks red or shows no activity, the pack has likely self-discharged past the charger's acceptance threshold. Some Meister Craft chargers have a recovery or "boost" mode — check the charger manual for a reset sequence, usually a long press or a specific light pattern. If cell voltage has dropped below 2.0V per cell, recovery is not possible and the pack should be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MAS144 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — why?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The motor-start inrush current — the spike that happens in the first milliseconds before the motor spins up — exceeds the BMS fault threshold and shuts the pack down as a protection measure. It's more common on a new or recently stored pack because the BMS hasn't yet profiled the motor's draw. Run two short, low-load cycles first, then try full torque — the BMS adjusts its threshold after seeing real inrush data.

The tool bogs down and loses power halfway through a long drilling session — is it the battery?

This is voltage sag under sustained load, not a full cutoff. As cells heat up during extended use, internal resistance rises and the voltage rail drops — the tool loses torque even though the battery isn't empty. Check that the pack contacts are clean and seating firmly; high contact resistance makes sag worse. Let the pack cool for 10 minutes between heavy sessions to keep cell temperature below the point where resistance climbs sharply.

The MAS144 runs fine in summer but feels noticeably weaker in a cold garage — what's happening?

Li-ion internal resistance increases significantly below 5°C, which cuts the current the pack can deliver at its rated voltage. The tool doesn't get less power because the battery is failing — it gets less power because the cells are cold. Bring the pack indoors for 20–30 minutes before use, or keep it in a jacket pocket on the way to site. Once cell temperature is above 10°C, output returns to normal levels.
