Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Metrologic MS9535 VoyagerBT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (46-46870)
This 3.7V, 1400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original pack in the Metrologic MS9535, MS9535 VoyagerBT, MS9535BT, and Dolphin 9535 handheld barcode scanners. It matches OEM part numbers 46-46870, 00-06260A, and 95359535BT. Swap it when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a shift.
- MS9535 and VoyagerBT platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack covers the full MS9535 family and the Dolphin 9535 variant.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated scan-trigger inrush events and Bluetooth polling loads. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly and did not false-trip under combined radio and laser draw.
- First-shift preparation on the MS9535: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before picking up the first shift. Scan-trigger inrush current spikes hardest when the cell is near minimum, and a pre-charged pack prevents a false BMS cutoff on the first pull of the trigger.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The MS9535 cradle reads pack state through gold contact pads on the battery base. If those pads have oxidation, residue, or debris from the old pack, the dock reports a charging fault even though the new cell is fine. Wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, charging was never the issue — it was contact resistance. The cradle should show a solid charge indicator within 30 seconds of a clean reseat.
Scanner not reading barcodes after battery swap
The MS9535 laser or imager needs the cell above a minimum voltage threshold before the scan engine will fire at full power. A freshly installed but uncharged replacement pack may sit at 3.4V or below, which the scanner accepts for standby but not for active scanning. The device powers on and appears normal, then fails to decode — or decodes intermittently on high-contrast labels only. Charge the pack to 4.2V in the cradle before first use and the scan engine will operate at rated output.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MS9535 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection during a fast scanning run — is the battery causing this?
Yes, the combined draw of the Bluetooth radio polling and repeated scan-trigger inrush can pull the cell voltage low enough to trigger a momentary BMS protection event, which drops the wireless link. This happens most often when the pack is below 50% charge and the scanner is hitting barcodes in rapid succession. It is not a pairing fault and re-pairing will not fix it. Charge the pack fully before a high-volume pick run and the connection will hold through the burst.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that normal with the new battery?
Some warmth is expected — the MS9535 housing is enclosed, and sustained scanning plus active Bluetooth creates real heat inside the casing. If the pack feels hot to the touch rather than warm, the cell may be drawing higher current than normal due to a partially blocked cradle contact not delivering a full prior charge. Check that the battery seated fully in the cradle before the shift and that the charge indicator confirmed a complete cycle. A pack that starts a shift at full charge runs cooler because it spends less time at high discharge rates.
After sitting unused for a few weeks, my MS9535 won't power on even though the battery was charged before storage.
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month at room temperature, but a cell that has already aged will drop faster and can sink below the BMS's minimum recovery threshold — around 2.5V — making the pack appear dead. Place the scanner in the cradle for at least 60 minutes before attempting to power on; most cradle chargers include a trickle-recovery mode that brings a deeply discharged cell back above the 3.0V threshold needed for the BMS to re-initialise. If the charge indicator never lights after 60 minutes, check cradle contact cleanliness first, then reseat the pack.
