Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS M635 / Pinnacle 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HBU83S)
This is a 3.7V, 950mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the MetroPCS M635, M636, Pinnacle 2, and related handsets. It uses OEM part numbers HBU83S and HB4A1H. Physical dimensions are 53.78 × 34.05 × 4.80mm — measure your original before ordering if you're unsure of your exact variant.
- M635 and Pinnacle 2 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS handshake is identical across the M635, M636, and Pinnacle 2 lineup, so one cell fits all without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the M635 platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, reported state-of-charge correctly after one full cycle, and thermal readings stayed within normal limits throughout.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge controller starts applying higher current. Skip this and the OS may report inaccurate percentages for the first several cycles.
Why the M635 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The M635 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its state-of-charge model around the discharge curve of the original cell. When you install a new cell, the IC is still referencing the old curve. Until it recalibrates, the percentage display can read high or low by 10–20%. One full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, resets the coulomb counter and aligns the IC to the new cell. After that cycle, percentage accuracy normalises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. Under modem transmission load or screen-on draw, the cell's terminal voltage drops sharply before the fuel gauge registers it. The phone shuts off because the processor loses its minimum voltage rail, even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. It happens most often in the first few cycles before the fuel gauge recalibrates. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging — if the shutdowns continue past that point, check that the replacement cell is seated fully and the connector is locked flat, then verify resting voltage reads at least 3.7V with a multimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions
My M635 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during extended storage, which prevents the phone from powering on even when connected to a charger. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC needs enough current to push the cell above the BMS recovery threshold before the phone will respond. If the screen shows nothing after 30 minutes on a wall charger, check the charger output with a multimeter and confirm it's delivering at least 5V.
The M635 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is something wrong?
A new high-impedance cell draws charge differently from a worn original, and the charge IC runs slightly hotter while it works against that resistance. Mild warmth during the first two or three charge cycles is normal and drops off as the cell's internal impedance settles. If the back of the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, remove the battery immediately and check that the cell is seated flat with no contact gap. After confirming proper seating, restart the charge — heat that stays mild and fades after two cycles is a sign the system is operating normally.
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery — the M635 just trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge controllers fall back to standard current while they verify the new BMS. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. Run one full charge to 100% at standard rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the controller typically re-enables higher charge current on the second cycle once it has confirmed cell acceptance. If fast charging is still absent after three full cycles, confirm the charger delivers the correct voltage and current rating for the M635 and try a different cable, as resistance in a worn cable can prevent the handshake.
