Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AT&T GoPhone U2800A — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HBU83S)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 950mAh (3.52Wh) for the AT&T GoPhone U2800A. It replaces OEM part numbers HBU83S and HB4A1H. The U2800A is a basic GSM handset used for calls and messaging.
- U2800A compatibility: Both listed OEM part numbers — HBU83S and HB4A1H — share the same 3.7V single-cell configuration and connector pinout on the U2800A. The BMS charge termination voltage and protection thresholds match what the phone's charge IC expects.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a U2800A-class platform. The BMS tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff and accepted a full charge termination without fault flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this battery, run one complete discharge-charge cycle before enabling any power-saving shortcuts. The U2800A's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets that baseline so percentage readings track accurately.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the U2800A after a cell swap
The U2800A's fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the original cell after a swap. When the new cell's actual voltage drops faster than the old curve predicts, the phone sees a valid percentage reading right up to the point the cell voltage collapses under GSM transmit load. That transmit burst draws a short, sharp current spike the new cell's internal resistance can't sustain without a voltage dip below the BMS cutoff threshold. One full discharge-to-cutoff and charge-to-full cycle forces the coulomb counter to rebuild the curve against the new cell.
Phone feels warm near the battery compartment on the first charge
A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. On the first charge cycle, the U2800A's charge IC pushes current into that higher-impedance cell, which converts more energy to heat than it would after a few cycles. This is a one-time effect — internal impedance drops as the cell forms. If the phone stays warm past the second full charge cycle, check that the battery contacts are seated flat and the back cover isn't trapping heat against the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My U2800A shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — is this a faulty cell?
Not faulty — it's the fuel gauge IC reading the new cell against the old discharge curve. The voltage drops faster under GSM transmit load than the old calibration expects, so the phone cuts out before the percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the coulomb counter will remap to the new cell's curve.
The U2800A won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what's wrong?
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V, the BMS has locked the cell out to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until the BMS unlocks and normal charging resumes.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically on my U2800A — it reads 60%, then suddenly shows 80%, then drops to 40%.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge profile and hasn't settled yet. This usually happens in the first two to three cycles after a swap because the coulomb counter is interpolating from the old cell's data points. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption, and the percentage readings will stabilise as the IC builds an accurate map of the new cell's capacity curve.
