Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Microsoft Lumia 925 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-4YW)
This is a 3.7V 2000mAh Li-ion cell for the Microsoft Lumia 925, 925T, and 925.2. It replaces the original BL-4YW when capacity has degraded and the phone can no longer hold charge through a normal day. Dimensions are 61.95 × 56.75 × 4.80mm — verify your tray clearance before fitting.
- Lumia 925, 925T, and 925.2 fitment: All three variants share the same battery bay dimensions, BL-4YW connector pinout, and charge IC handshake. One cell covers the full 925 line without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Lumia 925 charge IC and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly. No charge interrupt errors and no false temperature fault triggers on the first three cycles.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: After fitting, run one full discharge to auto-shutdown and then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Lumia's coulomb counter is still calibrated to your old cell's discharge curve — this single cycle resets it against the new cell and stops percentage jumping.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Lumia 925 after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still reading the discharge curve of the old, worn cell. A new cell has a steeper voltage cliff at low state-of-charge, so the phone's modem or screen draws enough current to drop voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold before the percentage counter reaches zero. The fix is one complete discharge-charge cycle with no interruption — this lets the coulomb counter map the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 20–30% stop for the vast majority of units.
Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage has dropped below 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks current flow to protect the cell from damage. The phone will not respond to the power button and may show nothing on screen even when plugged in. Connect to a USB charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above 2.8V, at which point the BMS releases lockout and normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Lumia 925 percentage jumps around after fitting the new BL-4YW — is the battery faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The Lumia's fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the discharge curve of the old cell, so it misreads state-of-charge on a fresh cell and shows erratic percentages. Run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to build an accurate model of the new cell, and the jumping stops.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is this normal?
Yes, and it is specific to the first few cycles on a new cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes voltage slightly harder to move the same current, generating more heat in the process. Impedance drops after two or three full cycles and the warmth goes away. If the phone remains hot to the touch after the third full charge, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat — a bent contact pin increases resistance at the connection point.
My Lumia 925 shuts down hard when I open the camera or browse, even though the battery shows 40% or more.
This is a voltage sag issue. The camera module and modem together pull a short, sharp current spike — if the cell cannot sustain voltage under that load, it drops below the BMS cutoff and the phone shuts off even with apparent charge remaining. The fuel gauge percentage is not the trigger; the instantaneous voltage drop is. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles to let the coulomb counter recalibrate, then test again. If shutdown continues past two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection adds resistance and worsens voltage sag under load.
