Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Monarch MP5020 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CC11075)

This 7.4V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM CC11075 pack in the Monarch MP5020, MP5022, MP5030, and MP5033 portable label printers. These are handheld thermal printers used in retail, warehouse, and logistics environments for on-demand barcode and shipping label production. Voltage and BMS communication match the original Monarch specification.

  • MP5020 / MP5022 / MP5030 / MP5033 compatibility: All four models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell SKU covers the entire series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, idle, and print cycles on the MP5020 platform. The BMS accepted charge from the Monarch dock without fault flags, and current draw during the paper feed motor cycle stayed within the pack's rated profile throughout.
  • First-deployment print sequence: After installing a new cell, charge fully via the Monarch dock, then run at least five consecutive label prints before field deployment. The feed motor draws a brief current spike at each print cycle — this sequence confirms the BMS current profile is correctly initialised for the new cell pack.

Why the MP5020 won't print after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the MP5020 sits unused long enough, the pack voltage drops below the printer's minimum motor drive threshold — typically around 6.8V — and the printer powers on but refuses to print. The thermal head and paper feed motor both require stable voltage above this floor to operate. A full charge cycle before attempting a print job restores the pack to operating range.

Faded or uneven print output on a partially charged battery

The MP5020's thermal print head requires a consistent voltage supply to maintain the correct head temperature across the full label width. When battery charge drops, voltage sags under the thermal head load, causing uneven heating — the result is faded bands or inconsistent density across the label. This is a voltage issue, not a head fault. Charge the pack fully and reprint; if output is still uneven at full charge, check the head contact strip for debris.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MP5020 keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth mid-print job — could this be the battery?

Yes. The Bluetooth radio in the MP5020 draws additional current during active data transfer, and at low battery charge the voltage sags enough to drop the radio off the bus mid-transmission. The printer may show as still powered on, but the wireless link collapses. Charge the pack to full before a print run and check whether disconnects stop — a healthy cell holds above 7.2V under combined radio and motor load.

The MP5020 paper feed is jamming even though the printer powers on fine — what's happening?

The feed motor relies on consistent torque to pull media through the print path, and torque drops as battery voltage falls. At low charge, the motor doesn't generate enough force to advance thicker label stock or media with a stiff liner, causing a jam or a feed error code. The printer's power-on indicator doesn't reflect whether voltage is sufficient for motor operation — only for the logic board. Charge fully and retry; if jams continue at full charge, clear the feed path for debris before assuming a mechanical fault.

The Monarch dock shows a full charge but the MP5020 still underperforms after several months — why?

Shallow cycling — repeatedly topping up from 80% rather than depleting and recharging — causes lithium cells to lose usable capacity over time without obvious warning signs. The dock reads voltage at rest, which can appear normal even when actual deliverable capacity has dropped significantly. Run the pack down through active printing until the printer signals low battery, then charge fully — this reconditions the charge curve. If underperformance continues across two full cycles, the cell has reached end of service life and needs replacement.
