Motorola C50 / E32 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (525734-001)

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH battery for Motorola cordless phone handsets using OEM part number 525734-001. It fits the C50, C51, E32, E33, and 22 additional Motorola cordless handset models. Cell dimensions are 45.90 × 31.20 × 10.70mm — confirm these against your existing pack before ordering.

  • C50 / C51 / E32 / E33 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and 3.6V charge rail. One pack covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a Motorola cordless base station and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without error flags. Capacity readings stabilised from cycle three onward — consistent with standard NiMH conditioning behaviour.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless handsets: Place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. Motorola cordless bases use a trickle charge rate that NiMH cells need on the first cycle to reach rated capacity — skipping this shortens every subsequent charge cycle.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and do not reach full capacity on the first charge cycle. The C50 and E32 handsets do not display a conditioning prompt — so users assume the battery is faulty when talk time is short out of the box. Run three full charge and discharge cycles through the base station before judging capacity. By cycle four, the cell should be delivering close to its rated 700mAh.

Base station charge light not activating on a new pack

Motorola cordless bases check for a minimum voltage threshold before starting the charge cycle. A NiMH pack that has been in storage can drop below 3.0V, which causes the base to reject it rather than charge it. Connect the handset to a USB power source or a compatible external NiMH charger briefly to bring the pack up to around 3.2V. Once voltage is above the threshold, seat the handset in the base and the charge indicator should activate normally.

My Motorola C50 handset range dropped after fitting the new battery — calls break up when I move more than a few metres from the base. Is that the battery?

Yes — NiMH voltage sag under RF load is the most likely cause. When the pack is not yet conditioned, voltage dips during transmit bursts, and the handset reduces output power to compensate. Run three full charge cycles through the base before testing range again. After conditioning, transmit voltage should hold steady and range should return to normal.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — it shows "searching" and won't reconnect.

Removing the battery cuts power completely, and some Motorola DECT handsets drop their pairing data when they lose power. Re-register the handset manually: on most C50 and E32 bases, press and hold the registration button on the base until the handset confirms pairing. Check your handset manual for the exact sequence — it takes under 60 seconds.

My Motorola E33 battery is completely flat by morning even though I left it in the base overnight. It was fine with the old battery.

Overnight drain from a seated handset usually means the handset is not making full contact with the base charging pins. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the cradle and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset, and confirm the charge indicator light activates. If the light comes on and drain continues, check standby settings in the handset menu.
