Fits Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Pro 5G smartphones, replacing OEM part numbers MT45 and SB18D11084.
3.8V, 3900mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full processor and display power without capacity loss or early shutdowns.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with no adapter required; locking tab seats flush against the frame edge.
We ran full discharge cycles on the Edge 20 Pro; the BMS accepted the cell on first insertion without fault codes or delayed recognition.
On first use, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against this cell's discharge curve before high-current USB-PD operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Edge 20 Pro — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MT45 / SB18D11084)

This is a 3.8V, 3900mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Motorola Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Pro 5G (XT2153, XT2153-1). It replaces OEM parts MT45 and SB18D11084. Fit this battery when the original cell has degraded, swells, or no longer holds adequate charge to get through normal use.

  • XT2153 series compatibility: The Edge 20 Pro and Edge 20 Pro 5G share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Both variants accept this 72.80 × 65.30 × 4.50mm cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge on an XT2153-1 unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, protection thresholds triggered correctly at low voltage, and the charge IC reached termination without fault codes.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the coulomb counter locks in its reference points — skipping this step causes the percentage reading to drift for several cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Edge 20 Pro after a cell swap

The Edge 20 Pro's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC associates with near-empty, it signals a shutdown even though capacity remains. The modem and display together draw enough current to sag the cell voltage briefly below the IC's shutdown threshold. One full uninterrupted discharge from 100% to automatic power-off, followed by a full charge, resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

USB-PD fast charging not activating after battery replacement

After a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard 5V charging on the first cycle because the BMS has not yet authenticated with the phone's power delivery controller. This is not a fault — it is the BMS running a conservative first-cycle protocol. Let the phone complete one full charge at standard rate without interruption. On the next plug-in, fast charging should negotiate correctly; verify by checking the charging indicator in Settings — it should show TurboPower or fast charge active above 5V input.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Edge 20 Pro shows 25% battery and then shuts off completely — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the XT2153 calibrated its shutdown threshold against your old, worn cell, so it triggers a cutoff too early on the new one. Run one full discharge from 100% down to automatic power-off without plugging in, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's actual voltage curve and shutdowns at 20–30% stop.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation.

A lithium-polymer cell stored uncharged for an extended period can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for at least 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage climbs above approximately 3.0V, the BMS releases and the phone will power on normally.

The back of my Edge 20 Pro gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after fitting this replacement — is something wrong?

Mild warmth on the first two or three charge cycles is normal. A new high-impedance cell generates more heat as the charge IC negotiates current delivery before the cell's internal resistance settles. Warmth should reduce noticeably by the third full charge. If the phone becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, or if the back plate starts to lift, stop charging immediately and check that the battery connector is fully seated flat against the board.
