Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MSI GS60 / 16H2 Series — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BTY-M6F)
This is an 11.4V, 4100mAh (46.74Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for MSI GS60 and 16H2 series laptops. It fits models including the GS60 2PC-010CN, GS60 2PC-279XCN, and over two dozen related variants that share the BTY-M6F specification. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or fails to register correctly in the OS.
- GS60 and 16H2 platform fit: These models share the same 11.4V three-cell Li-Polymer rail, BTY-M6F connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Any variant in this family pulling from that same power architecture accepts this cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery on a GS60 unit and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly — the OS recognised the cell, charge current ramped normally from cold, and the protection circuit tripped at the correct low-voltage threshold.
- Post-install discharge cycle on MSI laptops: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff under normal load, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the false poor-health warning that appears after every cell swap on MSI firmware.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after fitting a new BTY-M6F
MSI firmware stores learned capacity data from the previous cell in non-volatile memory. When a new cell goes in, that stored data no longer matches the actual chemistry, so the BIOS flags a health warning even though the new battery is fine. The fix is not a setting change — it is a full recalibration cycle. Discharge to hibernate cutoff, charge to 100% without interruption, and the BIOS will overwrite the stale EEPROM data with values from the new cell.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown after battery replacement
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage reading stays artificially high while the actual cell voltage drops below what the system needs under CPU and display load. The laptop cuts power before the gauge reaches zero because the real voltage hits the protection threshold first. Run two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge to 100% — and the fuel gauge IC will map the new cell's voltage curve accurately, eliminating the premature shutdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GS60 shows the battery as "0%" or "unknown" in Windows right after fitting this replacement — is the cell dead on arrival?
It is not a dead cell. The fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old battery and cannot yet read the new cell's state of charge accurately. Power the laptop on via the charger, let it reach 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate cutoff. After one complete cycle, Windows will report a real percentage. If it still reads unknown after two cycles, reseat the connector and confirm the BTY-M6F pinout is fully engaged.
The replacement battery charges fine but Windows reports the Wh capacity as lower than the 46.74Wh spec — what is wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure Windows shows is pulled from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS, and that value is set at the factory against the rated chemistry. The actual energy delivered by the cell during discharge matches the 46.74Wh specification we confirmed on the bench. The displayed figure recalibrates closer to spec after two or three full charge-discharge cycles once the fuel gauge IC builds an accurate profile of the new cell.
Charge stops at exactly 80% and will not go higher — is this a fault with the replacement cell?
This is MSI firmware, not a battery fault. MSI's Dragon Center or MSI Center software includes a battery charge limit feature that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on mains power. Check MSI Center under the battery settings tab and disable the charge limit, or set it to 100%. Once that setting is off, the cell will charge to its full 11.4V terminal voltage without restriction.
