Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NEC Versa M300 / M500 / E600 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PC-VP-WP44)

This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion battery for the NEC Versa M300, Versa M500, and Versa E600 notebook computers. It replaces OEM part numbers PC-VP-WP44 and OP-570-75901. Fit and connector orientation match the original cell exactly.

  • Versa M300, M500, and E600 compatibility: All three models share the same 14.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under combined CPU and display load on a Versa M300. The BMS held voltage above the low-battery cutoff threshold through full discharge, and the charge IC accepted a clean uninterrupted charge from empty to 100%.
  • First-cycle calibration tip: After installing, run one full discharge to the hibernate-cutoff point, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on NEC Versa systems.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

The Versa BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new cell is installed, that EEPROM data is gone and the BIOS flags an unknown or degraded status. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a data mismatch. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate and then a full uninterrupted charge forces the BIOS to rewrite its health record against the new cell's actual capacity. After two to three cycles, the health indicator returns to normal.

Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge remaining

This happens when the cell cannot sustain voltage under the combined draw of the CPU, display backlight, and active storage — a voltage cliff where the fuel gauge IC still reads 20–30% but the cell drops below the system cutoff threshold under load. On the Versa M300, the BIOS triggers an immediate shutdown rather than a graceful hibernate when voltage collapses faster than the gauge predicts. The fuel gauge IC needs calibration cycles to map the new cell's discharge curve accurately. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the shutdown point will shift to the correct low percentage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Versa M300 shows 0% or "unknown" battery in Windows right after I put in the new cell — is the battery dead?

No — the fuel gauge IC in the laptop is reading EEPROM data from the old cell, which no longer exists. The new cell has no stored profile yet, so Windows reports 0% or unknown. Run a full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one to two complete cycles the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's discharge curve and the percentage reads accurately.

The new battery shows the wrong Wh rating in system information — it says 48Wh instead of 65Wh.

The Wh figure in system info is pulled from the EEPROM record written by the original cell, not from a live measurement of the new cell. Until the BIOS completes a battery learn cycle, it reports the old rated value. Discharge the laptop fully to hibernate, then charge to 100% without interruption. The BIOS rewrites the Wh record after that cycle, and the correct 65.12Wh figure appears in system information.

New battery charges to 80% and then stops — charger light goes green but the cell never reaches 100%.

Some NEC Versa BIOS versions ship with a charge-limit setting enabled to reduce cell stress during storage or shipping. This is a firmware-controlled threshold, not a fault in the replacement cell. Go into BIOS setup on boot, navigate to the power or battery menu, and check for a "Battery Charge Mode" or "Eco Charge" option — disable it and save. After a normal boot the charge IC will allow a full charge to 100%.
