Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Newland ME31 / SP630 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the Newland ME31 and SP630 portable payment terminals. It slots into the handheld unit used by merchants for card transactions in retail and hospitality settings. Voltage and capacity match the original cell exactly.
- ME31 and SP630 platform fit: Both terminals share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS communication protocol is identical across the ME31 and SP630 lines, so one cell covers both devices without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through boot, PCI sequence, Wi-Fi handshake, and simulated transaction load. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full state of charge without interruption.
- First deployment tip for payment terminals: After fitting the battery, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment. The ME31 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Receipt printer causing voltage sag on the ME31
The ME31's thermal printer draws a short but sharp current spike each time it fires. On a degraded original battery, that spike drops the cell voltage enough to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff, which the terminal reads as a fault. A fresh cell at full capacity handles the transient without the voltage dropping below the BMS threshold. If the terminal cuts out only when printing receipts, the battery is the first component to replace.
Terminal stuck on boot screen after fitting a new battery
The ME31 runs a PCI security boot sequence that checks power stability before completing initialisation. If the replacement cell has self-discharged during storage, the terminal may not have enough voltage to pass the full boot check. Connect the terminal to the charger before the first power-on and let it charge for at least 15 minutes. Once the cell is above 3.6V, the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ME31 reboots every time a customer taps to pay — it only started after I swapped the battery. What's happening?
The contactless reader and BMS handshake both fire at the moment a tap is detected, creating a brief combined current draw. If the replacement cell was installed without a full charge cycle, the BMS may not have completed capacity mapping and trips an overcurrent flag prematurely. Charge the terminal to 100% and run three to five complete transaction cycles before live use. That gives the BMS enough data to stop misreading normal load spikes as faults.
The battery indicator on my ME31 has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery two hours ago — is the cell faulty?
It is not faulty. The charge IC on the ME31 enters a top-off mode when a new cell is first installed, holding the display at 99% while it trickle-charges the last fraction of capacity. This is normal behaviour and typically clears within 30 to 90 minutes depending on ambient temperature. Once the IC confirms the cell is full, the indicator moves to 100% and the charge LED switches off.
My ME31 sat unused in a drawer for several months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over time, and after several months the cell may have dropped below the ME31's minimum power-on threshold. Connect the terminal to the original charger and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC needs time to bring the cell above 3.0V before the terminal will respond to the power button. If the terminal still shows no sign of life after 30 minutes on charge, check that the charger output is confirmed at 5V with a meter before ruling out the battery.
