Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Geidea OM-A880 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 7.4V, 2600mAh (19.24Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Geidea OM-A880 mobile payment terminal. It fits merchants running the OM-A880 for card-present transactions in retail, hospitality, and field service environments. Same voltage rail and connector footprint as the factory cell.
- OM-A880 platform fit: The OM-A880 runs a single-cell 7.4V nominal rail shared across its display, wireless module, and receipt printer. This replacement matches that rail exactly, so the terminal's power management IC doesn't flag a voltage mismatch on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge-discharge sequences and monitored the BMS response during simulated printer-motor draw spikes. The protection circuit held without tripping at normal operating loads.
- First transaction cycle before live deployment: After fitting this battery, run the terminal through at least one complete boot and transaction cycle before using it at the counter. The OM-A880 maps battery capacity during normal operation — the charge indicator won't read accurately until that initial calibration cycle completes.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The OM-A880 runs a PCI-compliant tamper-detection check on every power-up. If the battery voltage hasn't stabilised after installation, the terminal can stall partway through that sequence and refuse to reach the home screen. New cells sometimes sit at a partial state of charge after shipping. Charge the replacement battery to full — confirmed by the terminal showing 100% — before attempting to boot into a live payment session. One complete charge cycle is usually enough for the BMS handshake to be accepted by the terminal's security controller.
Battery indicator stuck at 99% through a full first charge
A new Li-ion cell triggers the terminal's charge IC to enter top-off mode rather than reporting a clean 100% on the first pass. The charge controller holds the indicator just below full while it trickle-charges the cell to its actual ceiling voltage of 8.4V. This is normal behaviour and not a fault with the battery or the terminal. Leave the terminal on charge until it drops out of top-off mode on its own — the indicator will flip to 100% and charging current will stop automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Geidea OM-A880 keeps rebooting right when the receipt prints — is this the battery?
Yes, this is a known load-spike issue. The receipt printer motor draws a short burst of current at the moment it starts, and if the battery's BMS registers that as an overcurrent event, it trips and cuts power — rebooting the terminal mid-sale. We reproduced this on the bench with a partially discharged cell. Keep the battery above 40% charge during high-volume periods to stay clear of the BMS trip threshold.
The OM-A880 won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
Self-discharge is the likely cause. Li-ion cells left unused will slowly drain, and if the terminal sat long enough, the cell may have dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 2.5V per cell, around 5.0V pack voltage. The BMS locks out charging at that point as a protection measure. Try connecting to the original charger and leaving it for 30–45 minutes; some chargers can push a small trickle charge to recover the cell. If the terminal still shows no sign of life after that, the original battery is past recovery and needs replacing.
The OM-A880 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is something wrong?
Heat during heavy use is expected on this terminal. The display backlight, receipt printer, and wireless radio are all drawing from the same 7.4V pack simultaneously, and that combined load generates heat in both the cell and the power management IC. The OM-A880 does not have active cooling. If the case becomes too hot to hold comfortably, give the terminal a 5-minute rest with the screen idle — thermal stress from sustained high draw accelerates cell capacity fade over time.
