Fits NGM Tango Always 2 and Simple models, replacing original 3.7V lithium-ion packs.
3.7V nominal at 900mAh capacity delivers 3.33Wh for calls, SMS, and basic functions on this basic phone.
Connector slides straight into the factory slot with no locking tab — orientation marked on housing.
We bench-tested this cell in an Always 2 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no voltage delay.
After installation, run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard speed before relying on any fast-charge mode — the fuel gauge IC needs to calibrate against this new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NGM Tango Always 2 / Simple — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 900mAh (3.33Wh) lithium-ion battery fits the NGM Tango Always 2 and Simple mobile phones. It replaces a degraded or failed original cell and restores full device operation — calls, messaging, and standard phone functions. Dimensions are 53.00 × 34.00 × 4.80mm, matching the original battery bay.

  • Always 2 and Simple platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout, which is why one cell covers both. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the pair, so the charge IC accepts the replacement without errors.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a controlled bench rig. The BMS held voltage within spec across the full discharge curve and tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold without false positives.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after fitting this cell, run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle with fast charging disabled. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it reset against the new cell before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated state.

Why the Always 2 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC uses a stored discharge curve from the previous cell to estimate remaining capacity. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the IC's coulomb counter starts out of sync. The phone reads the voltage correctly but maps it to the wrong percentage point on the old curve. One full discharge cycle — taken down to automatic shutdown, then charged to 100% — resets the calibration and brings the percentage display back into line.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff failure, not a capacity problem. Under screen-on or active call load, the cell voltage drops sharply near the low end of the discharge curve — faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts. When voltage hits the BMS cutoff threshold (typically around 3.0V), the phone shuts off even though the displayed percentage still shows charge remaining. The fix is to complete two full discharge-charge cycles so the IC learns the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity curve. After recalibration, the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone shows 25% battery and shuts off without warning — is something wrong with the new cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. This is a voltage cliff: under call or screen load, cell voltage drops faster near the low end of the discharge curve than the fuel gauge IC expects, hitting the BMS cutoff at around 3.0V while the display still shows charge remaining. The IC is still calibrated to the old cell's curve. Run two full discharge-to-shutdown and charge-to-100% cycles and the shutdowns will stop as the IC relearns the curve.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the replacement battery — the phone only trickle charges now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC may reject the fast-charge handshake because the new cell's impedance reads differently from the stored profile. This is the charge IC protecting an uncalibrated cell, not a fault in the battery. Complete one full charge at standard rate, then let the phone discharge to shutdown and charge again — fast charging typically re-enables on the second cycle once the IC has logged the new cell's response.

The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in storage for a while before fitting.

If the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage and the phone will not power on. Plug in the charger and leave it connected for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once voltage clears that threshold, the BMS releases and the phone will boot normally.
