Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Coolpad 8070 / 8028 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CPLD-91)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Coolpad 8070 and 8028 smartphones. It carries OEM part number CPLD-91 and slots into either handset to restore power to the processor, display, and radio stack. Capacity is 1500mAh (5.55Wh) — match this against your original label before installing.

  • Coolpad 8070 and 8028 compatibility: Both models share the same 3.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements — one cell covers both devices without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a monitored rig. The BMS held cutoff correctly at both ends of the voltage window, and charge termination triggered cleanly without thermal events.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated register.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Coolpad 8070 after a cell swap

The 8070's fuel gauge IC holds a discharge curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with even slightly different internal resistance will hit a voltage cliff under modem or display load before the gauge reads zero. The phone sees a rail voltage drop it wasn't expecting and shuts down as a protection measure. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle rewrites the coulomb counter and eliminates the premature cutoff.

Phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges

A new Li-ion cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a conditioned cell. The charge IC on the 8070 pushes current in at the same rate it used with the old cell, and that extra impedance converts some energy to heat. This is normal for the first two to three cycles and reduces as the cell conditions. If the body stays warm past the fifth full charge, check that the back cover is fully seated — trapped heat from a loose cover can amplify the effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Coolpad 8070 show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new CPLD-91 cell?

The fuel gauge IC on the 8070 stores a discharge curve built from cycles on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the coulomb counter is still reading against that stale curve, so displayed percentage drifts from actual charge state. Run one full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the gauge recalibrates and percentage tracking stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after replacing the battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the replacement cell has not yet accepted the phone's fast-charge handshake. The charge IC defaults to standard rate as a precaution. Unplug, let the phone sit for two minutes, then reconnect — the handshake renegotiates. If fast charging still doesn't engage after a full standard-rate cycle, check that the charge port pins are clean and making full contact.

My Coolpad 8070 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — what happened?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the CPLD-91 cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS triggered a lockout to prevent damage. The phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect to a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
