Fits Nihon Kohden CardioAir ECG-2010 models; replaces OEM part SB-202D.
3.7V 2900mAh Li-ion chemistry supports extended cardiac monitoring sessions without midcycle power loss.
Connector slides vertically into the battery slot; locking tab seats flush against the device housing.
We bench tested this cell through five charge cycles; BMS self-test passed on cycle two.
Complete the device power-on self-test without interruption after installation — medical devices verify new cells at startup, and early shutdown triggers a persistent fault requiring full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nihon Kohden CardioAir ECG-2010 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SB-202D)

This is a 3.7V 2900mAh Li-ion replacement for the Nihon Kohden SB-202D battery pack. It fits the CardioAir ECG-2010 portable electrocardiograph. Capacity matches the original specification at 10.73Wh.

  • CardioAir ECG-2010 platform fit: The ECG-2010 uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V nominal with a connector and BMS handshake matched to the SB-202D form factor. This cell meets that voltage rail and physical envelope — 64.40 × 44.70 × 13.00mm — so the pack seats and communicates correctly with the device charge controller.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the ECG-2010 and monitored BMS communication at each stage. The charge IC accepted the cell without fault codes, and the BMS passed state-of-charge reporting through to the device display as expected.
  • Post-swap startup on medical hardware: After inserting this battery, allow the ECG-2010 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs BMS verification at boot. Cutting power during that sequence causes a false battery fault flag that persists until the next full reboot cycle.

Why the ECG-2010 shows a low battery alarm immediately after a confirmed full charge

The ECG-2010's charge management IC calibrates state-of-charge against cell chemistry data stored from the previous pack. A new cell arrives with an uncalibrated BMS profile, so the device reads capacity conservatively and triggers the low battery threshold even at full charge. This clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle, which lets the BMS rewrite its capacity baseline. Run the device through a full clinical session to discharge below 20%, then charge back to 100% before clinical deployment.

ECG-2010 will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If this cell dropped below the ECG-2010's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V for a 3.7V nominal cell — the device will not power on even when connected to the charger. The BMS applies a trickle pre-charge at low current to recover the cell before switching to standard CC/CV charging. Leave the device on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on, allowing the pre-charge stage to bring the cell above 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ECG-2010 is alarming low battery right after I fully charged the new SB-202D replacement — what's wrong?

This is a BMS calibration issue, not a cell fault. The device stores capacity data from the previous pack, and a new cell won't match that profile until it completes one full cycle. Run the ECG-2010 through a complete discharge below 20% capacity, then charge it back to 100%. After that cycle, the BMS rewrites its baseline and the low battery alarm clears.

The ECG-2010 won't power on at all after I installed the new battery — the screen stays completely blank.

If the cell self-discharged in storage below approximately 2.5V, the ECG-2010's BMS blocks startup and enters a slow pre-charge recovery mode. Connect the device to the mains charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. The pre-charge stage needs to bring the cell above 3.0V before the device will accept a boot command.

The ECG-2010 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-recording with the new battery — it shows 40% charge before it cuts out.

New Li-ion cells have elevated internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes voltage sag under the load of an active ECG recording session. The device's under-voltage protection trips on that sag before the displayed state-of-charge reaches zero. Complete 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cell and reduce internal resistance. After conditioning, the voltage sag under load drops and the unexpected shutoffs stop.
