Fits Nolan B4 RCS motorcycle helmet headset unit; replaces OEM part NC003-BA-21.
3.7V, 900mAh lithium-ion cell delivers stable voltage under combined audio and DECT radio draw during calls.
Connects via proprietary connector into the helmet headset battery slot; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in the B4 RCS base station — BMS handshake completed on first charge cycle, no fault codes.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking a call; DECT systems need the base to log the new cell before talk-time estimates become accurate.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nolan B4 RCS Kits — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NC003-BA-21)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the Nolan B4 RCS Kit Bluetooth helmet headset unit. It fits the wireless communication module that sits inside the helmet for hands-free calling and intercom use. When the original cell no longer holds charge, swapping this in restores full wireless function to the headset.

  • B4 RCS Kit compatibility: The B4 RCS system uses a single flat Li-ion cell at 3.7V to power both the Bluetooth radio and audio circuits simultaneously. This cell matches the original OEM dimensions — 54.20 x 35.65 x 4.65mm — and the BMS connector, so the base station can complete its handshake with the new pack.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a B4 RCS unit, monitoring BMS handshake completion and cutoff voltage. The cell accepted a full charge and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low voltage without locking the unit out.
  • First-charge protocol on the B4 RCS: Seat the headset in the base station and let it complete a full uninterrupted charge cycle before taking any calls. The base station logs the new cell during this cycle — until it does, the talk-time estimate displayed will not reflect actual capacity.

Why the B4 RCS headset cuts out mid-call on a new battery

The B4 RCS draws current from two circuits at once — the Bluetooth radio and the audio amplifier — and that combined load spikes briefly every time audio transmits. A new cell sitting at storage voltage (around 3.6–3.7V) has not yet settled into its working charge curve, so the BMS can read the voltage sag during a transmission spike as a low-cell event and cut power. This is not a fault with the cell. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles lets the cell stabilise and the BMS calibrate its cutoff threshold to the actual load profile of the device.

Base station shows charging error after fitting a new cell

The B4 RCS base station checks for a BMS handshake before it begins charging — if the new cell arrives at a voltage the base reads as outside its expected window, it flags a charging error rather than starting a charge cycle. Remove the headset, leave it out of the base for 30 seconds, then reseat it firmly and check the connector is fully engaged. If the error clears, allow the full charge cycle to complete without interrupting it. If the error persists, check that the cell voltage is above 3.0V with a multimeter — below that threshold, the base will not initiate charging.

Frequently Asked Questions

My B4 RCS headset cuts out during calls but shows a full charge on the base — what's happening?

This points to voltage sag under combined Bluetooth radio and audio draw, not a faulty cell. When both circuits pull current at once, a cell that hasn't been through a few full cycles yet can dip briefly below the BMS cutoff threshold, killing power mid-transmission even though the resting charge reads full. Run three complete charge-discharge cycles in the base station before relying on the headset for calls. After conditioning, the BMS adjusts its cutoff reference and the drop-outs stop.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than rated for the first few days after fitting the new battery — is the cell defective?

It's not defective — Li-ion cells ship at partial storage charge and need several full cycles before they deliver rated capacity. On a small 900mAh cell like this one, the difference between a storage-state cell and a conditioned cell is noticeable in real use. Capacity improves across the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces. Let the headset drain to low-battery warning, then charge fully in the base station — repeat this three times and talk time will reach its rated level.

The headset gets noticeably warm during long calls after a battery replacement — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected. The B4 RCS housing is compact, and the cell, Bluetooth radio, and audio amp all generate heat in a small shared space during sustained use. What you should not feel is heat concentrated at one point on the housing or heat that persists after the call ends. If the headset stays warm more than two minutes after a call, seat it in the base station and check whether the charging indicator behaves normally — a cell with a damaged protection circuit will sometimes show residual heat after load is removed, and that warrants replacing the cell again.
