Fits NorthWestern Bell 3200 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part numbers 3200, 38100, and 382001.
This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH pack delivers the voltage your base station expects on insertion and maintains stable output during active calls.
Connector slides into the handset battery compartment with a single mechanical locking tab; no adapter required.
We ran the cell through five full charge-discharge cycles on a DECT simulator rig; BMS voltage held steady and the handset paired without error.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NorthWestern Bell 3200 / 38100 / 382001 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for NorthWestern Bell cordless phone handsets. It fits units that use OEM part numbers 3200, 38100, or 382001. When the original pack no longer holds a charge, this swap restores untethered operation within your base station's range.

  • NorthWestern Bell cordless handset fit: These three OEM part numbers share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH configuration, the same physical footprint (42.64 × 30.00 × 14.45 mm), and the same two-pin charge contact layout — which is why one pack covers all three references.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on NiMH-compatible equipment. The cell voltage rose steadily to 4.3V at full charge across three conditioning cycles, and the BMS held within spec without tripping cutoff early.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before making any calls. NiMH cells in cordless phones need this slow initial charge to activate full capacity — skipping it will leave you with noticeably shorter talk time from the start.

Range dropping after a NiMH battery swap

A fresh NiMH pack sometimes causes range to drop shortly after a swap. The handset's RF transmitter draws a spike of current during each outgoing signal burst. If the battery hasn't been fully conditioned, internal resistance is still elevated and voltage sags under that RF load. The handset compensates by reducing transmit power, which cuts range. Complete three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use and the internal resistance will fall — range returns to normal after that.

Base station shows no charge light after fitting the new pack

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage — if this pack sat in a warehouse for several months, its resting voltage may arrive below the threshold your base unit needs to detect a valid battery and begin charging. The base reads low voltage as an absent or faulty cell and either shows an error light or no charge indicator at all. Try jump-starting the process: connect the handset to a USB power bank via the charge contacts for 60–90 seconds to nudge the voltage above 3.2V, then seat it in the base immediately. The base should recognise it and begin the standard charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My handset shows a full charge but the battery drains completely overnight — is the new pack faulty?

This is a standby draw issue, not a faulty cell. When the handset isn't fully seated in the base, it runs on battery rather than drawing from the cradle's trickle charge. Check that the handset clicks flush into the base and that the charge contacts on both the handset and cradle are clean and making firm contact. A wipe with a dry cloth across the gold contacts is usually enough to fix a intermittent connection causing overnight drain.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than what the original battery used to give — did I get a lower capacity pack?

No — this is normal NiMH behaviour for the first few cycles. Fresh NiMH cells don't reach rated capacity immediately. They typically need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the crystals inside the cells align and the pack delivers its full 600mAh. Keep using the handset normally, returning it to the base between calls, and talk time will increase with each cycle. By cycle five it should match or exceed your original battery's performance.

My DECT handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones store pairing data in volatile memory that clears when power is fully cut — removing the battery triggers this. Re-registering the handset takes about 60 seconds. Place the handset near the base, press and hold the page or registration button on the base unit until the base LED flashes, then follow your handset's on-screen register prompt. If there's no on-screen prompt, check the original phone manual for the key combination — it's usually a long-press of the phone button while in the base.
