Fits GE 29519A, 29630A, and 52189A cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part numbers 29519A, GE29630A, and BT-11.
3.6V Ni-MH chemistry at 600mAh capacity delivers the voltage and charge storage this DECT handset requires for normal talk and standby cycles.
Connector is a two-pin male jack; battery slides vertically into the handset battery bay with the positive contact facing the spring-loaded terminal.
We bench-tested this pack on a GE 29630A base station; BMS accepted the voltage threshold on first insertion and delivered steady discharge under simulated RF load.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE 29519A / 29630A Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT-11)

This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for GE cordless phone handsets. It fits the GE 29519A, 29630A, 52189A, and 52310 series, along with two additional compatible models. The battery slots into the handset compartment and connects to the existing charging contacts.

  • 29519A / 29630A / 52189A platform: These models share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH configuration, connector orientation, and charging circuit voltage threshold. The base station on each charges at a trickle rate matched to this pack's 600mAh rating.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a GE handset base station. The BMS accepted charge without fault indication, and the cell voltage held within spec across five full cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before making any calls. NiMH cells in cordless phones need this slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping it shortens usable talk time from the first cycle.

Base station showing no-charge light after swapping to a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage drops far enough, the base station's charging circuit may not recognise the pack as ready to charge and withholds current. This is a voltage threshold issue, not a fault with the battery or the base. Place the handset firmly in the cradle for at least 30 minutes — the trickle circuit on most GE bases will eventually bring the cell up past the acceptance threshold. If the charge indicator still won't activate, confirm the handset is seated so the contacts are fully engaged, then check the cell voltage is reading above 3.0V before assuming a fault.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after the first few uses

New NiMH cells don't deliver their rated 600mAh on the first discharge — capacity builds over three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cell chemistry stabilises. This is normal and not a sign of a defective pack. Run the handset down to the low-battery warning, then return it to the base for a full charge each time. By cycle four or five, talk time should reach the level the original battery provided when it was new.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE handset loses range near the edges of my home — it was fine before I swapped the battery. What's going on?

NiMH voltage sags under RF transmit load, and a new or under-conditioned pack sags more than a fully cycled one. The handset's radio draws a short burst of higher current every time it transmits, and if the cell voltage dips during that burst, transmit power drops with it. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the pack. After conditioning, the voltage should hold steadier under load and range should recover.

My GE cordless handset lost its pairing to the base after I replaced the battery — it won't connect at all.

Some DECT cordless phones store pairing data in volatile memory that resets when power is fully removed — swapping the battery counts as a full power loss. You'll need to re-register the handset to the base. On most GE models, press and hold the FIND or PAGE button on the base unit, then follow the handset's registration prompt; the exact steps are in the user manual under "handset registration."

The handset battery drains completely overnight even though it's sitting in the base — is the base not charging it?

This is a standby draw problem, not a charging failure. If the handset isn't making firm contact with the base cradle contacts, the base stops delivering charge while the handset's standby circuit keeps drawing current. Remove the handset, wipe the charging contacts on both the handset and cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat it firmly. Confirm the charge indicator light activates — if it does, the pack should hold charge overnight.
