Fits Novatel Wireless MiFi Liberate hotspot; replaces OEM part 40115125.00.
3.7V at 3400mAh delivers 12.58Wh — sustains cellular radio and WiFi broadcast on a single charge.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We ran load tests on the MiFi5792 platform; BMS accepted handshake within two minutes of insertion.
On first use, keep the hotspot in a well-ventilated location during extended sessions — the cellular radio draws maximum power when devices are far from the tower, generating heat that stresses the cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Novatel Wireless MiFi Liberate / MiFi 5792 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (40115125.00)

This 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Novatel Wireless MiFi Liberate and MiFi 5792 mobile hotspot. It fits the 65394 variant as well. The OEM part number 40115125.00 confirms direct compatibility across the MiFi 5792 platform.

  • MiFi 5792 platform fit: The MiFi Liberate, MiFi5792, and 65394 all share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers the full platform because the modem and WiFi chipset draw from the same regulated rail.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under simultaneous cellular modem and WiFi radio load — the BMS held the discharge curve within spec across multiple sessions, with no unexpected cutoff events under combined draw.
  • Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the hotspot in an open, ventilated spot during long sessions. When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum output power. That sustained RF output generates heat that accelerates cell aging — flat surface, good airflow, away from pockets or enclosed bags.

Mobile hotspot disconnecting users mid-session on a new battery

The MiFi 5792 runs two power-hungry radios simultaneously — the cellular modem and the 802.11 WiFi radio. At maximum connected devices, combined current draw creates momentary voltage sag on the cell. If the BMS sees the cell voltage dip below its cutoff threshold during a surge, it trips the protection circuit and the device restarts. This is not a battery defect — it is the BMS doing its job. The fix is to reduce the number of simultaneously connected devices or move the hotspot closer to the cellular tower to lower modem transmit power.

MiFi Liberate won't boot after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, typically 1–2% per week. If the MiFi Liberate sits unused long enough, the cell voltage drops below the minimum boot threshold — often around 3.0V — and the BMS locks out discharge to protect the cell. The device appears completely dead, not a charging screen. Connect the original Novatel charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS circuits re-enable once the cell recovers above 3.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MiFi Liberate keeps dropping all connected devices for a few seconds, then reconnecting — why does this happen with a new battery?

This is a voltage sag trip, not a faulty battery. When several devices are connected and the cellular signal is weak, both the modem and WiFi radio draw peak current at the same moment, briefly pulling the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The BMS shuts the output and the hotspot restarts. Move the hotspot closer to a window or external antenna point to reduce modem transmit power, and limit active connections to fewer devices simultaneously.

The battery on my MiFi 5792 drains noticeably faster when I'm in an area with weak cellular signal — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is normal radio behaviour. In a weak signal area, the cellular modem increases its transmit power to maintain the data link, drawing significantly more current from the cell than it would at full signal strength. That extra modem draw compounds with the WiFi radio load, accelerating discharge. Move to a stronger signal area or position the hotspot near a window; the drain rate will drop as the modem backs off its transmit power.

My MiFi Liberate shows a charging indicator but the battery percentage won't rise above a low number after the device was stored for months — what's happening?

Extended storage likely allowed the cell to discharge below the BMS recovery threshold, around 3.0–3.2V. The BMS permits trickle charging to begin — which is why the indicator appears — but it restricts full charge current until the cell voltage climbs back into a safe range. Leave the hotspot on charge undisturbed for at least 45 minutes before checking. Once the cell recovers above 3.2V, the BMS releases full charge current and the percentage will begin rising normally.
