Fits Olympus OM SYSTEM OM-1 mirrorless camera, replaces OEM BLX-1 battery pack.
Outputs 7.2V at 2260mAh capacity — supplies 16.27Wh to the imaging sensor, autofocus, and electronic viewfinder.
Connector is proprietary Olympus lithium-ion slot with friction locking tab; seats flush into camera body battery chamber.
We bench-tested this cell in the OM-1 body through a full charge cycle; BMS recognized the pack on insertion and reported accurate voltage across the discharge curve.
On first install, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body using OEM charger — the OM-1 firmware requires this handshake to lock in correct battery-remaining display calibration.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Olympus OM SYSTEM OM-1 — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BLX-1)

This is a 7.2V, 2260mAh Li-ion replacement for the Olympus BLX-1 battery. It fits the OM SYSTEM OM-1 mirrorless camera, powering the imaging sensor, autofocus system, electronic viewfinder, and in-body image stabilisation. Capacity is 2260mAh (16.27Wh) — matching the original BLX-1 specification.

  • OM SYSTEM OM-1 compatibility: The OM-1 uses a single BLX-1 cell to power all major subsystems — the stacked BSI sensor, quad-core processor, and 5-axis IBIS — from one 7.2V rail. This replacement matches that voltage and connector configuration to seat correctly in the battery compartment.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the OM-1 body. The BMS accepted the battery after one full charge via the OEM charger, and the battery-remaining indicator tracked consistently across the discharge curve.
  • First-use charge cycle on the OM-1: Run a full charge cycle through the OEM charger or camera body before shooting. The OM-1's BMS maps its battery-percentage display to a calibrated discharge curve — skipping this step can cause the indicator to report inaccurately from the first frame.

Why the OM-1 draws harder than its shot-count spec suggests

Olympus rates shot count under CIPA conditions, which uses a standardised mix of flash and non-flash exposures at moderate settings. The OM-1's computational photography modes — including live ND, high-res shot, and subject-detection AF — each add processing load beyond CIPA assumptions. Continuous shooting with the electronic shutter at high frame rates keeps the stacked sensor and processor under sustained load, pulling more current per frame. Any combination of these features will reduce shot count below the published figure, which is expected behaviour, not a cell defect.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the OM-1 display

This happens when the camera's BMS hasn't completed its voltage-threshold mapping on a new cell. The OM-1 builds its percentage display by interpolating voltage against a stored discharge curve — a new cell with no calibration history causes the indicator to jump between thresholds rather than step down smoothly. One full charge-to-discharge cycle inside the OM-1 body lets the BMS record accurate voltage landmarks. After that cycle, the percentage readout stabilises and tracks normally through subsequent charges.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OM-1 shows a crossed-out battery icon and won't shoot with the new BLX-1 replacement — is the cell dead out of the box?

It's almost always a BMS authentication check, not a faulty cell. The OM-1 can reject an unrecognised cell on first insertion, especially if the battery arrived partially discharged from storage. Place the battery in the OEM charger or the camera body via USB-C and run a full charge cycle through to 100%. After that charge completes, re-insert the battery — the camera should clear the warning and accept the cell.

The OM-1 feels noticeably warm during video recording and the battery drains faster than during stills — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected under video load. Sustained 4K or high-frame-rate recording keeps the stacked sensor, image processor, and IBIS motor all drawing current simultaneously, which generates heat and increases drain well beyond stills use. The BLX-1's 2260mAh capacity is sized for that combined draw, but the thermal output is a side effect of the OM-1's processing architecture, not a cell issue. If the body gets hot enough to trigger a temperature warning, reduce recording resolution or allow a cool-down interval between clips.

The OM-1 stops autofocusing or drops to single-point AF mid-shoot even though the battery still shows charge — what's causing that?

Subject-detection and cross-quad AF on the OM-1 draw significant current from the processor and sensor simultaneously. When cell voltage sags under that combined load — typically below 6.8V under draw — the camera can throttle AF performance to protect the sensor and stabilisation circuits. This sag is more pronounced on a cell that has gone through many partial cycles without a full discharge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the cell, then check that resting voltage is at or above 8.2V on a multimeter before the next shoot.
