Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Olympus OM SYSTEM OM-1 — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BLX-1)
This 7.2V, 1600mAh Li-ion battery is a direct cell replacement for the Olympus OM SYSTEM OM-1 and OM-1 Mirrorless cameras. It powers the sensor, autofocus system, and image processing stack through the same voltage rail as the OEM BLX-1. Capacity is rated at 11.52Wh.
- OM SYSTEM OM-1 and OM-1 Mirrorless compatibility: Both bodies share the same BLX-1 battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell fits either body without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the OM-1 body charger and verified BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and discharge curve across the full capacity range. The BMS logged no rejection flags during testing.
- First-install charge cycle on the OM-1: Seat the new cell in the camera body and run one full charge cycle through the body's USB-C port or OEM charger before shooting. The OM-1 BMS maps battery-remaining percentage to the cell's discharge curve during this first cycle — skipping it causes erratic percentage readings on the top-plate LCD.
Why the OM-1 draws harder than the rated capacity suggests
The OM-1 runs simultaneous loads that most camera bodies don't stack at once — in-body 5-axis stabilisation, stacked sensor readout, phase-detect AF, and the electronic viewfinder all draw current in parallel. Under Starry Sky AF or Pro Capture mode, those loads compound further. A 1600mAh cell rated at camera spec accounts for standard shooting, not sustained multi-system operation. If shot count falls short of expectation, check which drive modes and processing features are active — turning off the EVF in favour of the rear screen alone reduces draw noticeably.
Battery percentage jumping or resetting to 100% mid-shoot
This happens when the OM-1 BMS hasn't yet mapped its voltage thresholds to the replacement cell's discharge curve. The camera ships calibrated to the OEM cell's specific voltage-to-capacity profile, and a new third-party cell needs one full charge-discharge cycle before that mapping aligns. Until it does, the indicator reads off an incorrect lookup table and jumps between percentage steps unevenly. Run one full cycle from 0% to 100% through the camera body — percentage display stabilises after that cycle completes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My OM-1 shows "no battery" or flashes a battery warning the first time I insert the replacement — is the cell dead?
The OM-1 BMS runs an authentication check when it detects a new cell, and a fresh replacement that hasn't been charged in the body can fail that initial handshake. The cell itself is not dead. Seat it firmly, connect the camera to its OEM charger or a USB-C source, and let it complete one full charge cycle without interruption — the body accepts the cell once it has completed that first charge from within the system.
Shot count is significantly lower than what I was getting with the original BLX-1 — why?
Shot count figures are calculated under controlled conditions that don't reflect heavy use of the OM-1's stabilisation, stacked sensor, continuous AF, or EVF simultaneously. Each active system pulls current beyond the baseline shot-count spec. Cold ambient temperatures also raise internal resistance and reduce usable capacity from the same 1600mAh cell. Disable features you aren't using — switching from EVF to rear screen and turning off subject detection when not needed measurably extends capacity between charges.
The OM-1 body feels warm during extended video recording — is the battery causing it?
Heat during sustained video on the OM-1 comes primarily from the sensor, image processor, and stabilisation system running under continuous load — not from the battery alone. The cell does contribute a small amount of heat as current draw increases, which is normal for Li-ion chemistry under sustained discharge. If the body heat becomes excessive, the camera will trigger its own thermal protection before the battery reaches a harmful state. Monitor ambient temperature and ensure the body has airflow — shooting above 35°C ambient significantly accelerates both sensor and cell heat buildup.
