Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ONeil 550041-100 (DR10) — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 6V, 2100mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for ONeil portable camera equipment using part numbers 550041-100 or DR10. It matches the original cell's voltage rail and physical footprint at 89.10 x 46.50 x 19.10mm. If your unit has stopped powering on or the OEM cell no longer holds a charge, this is a direct swap.
- 550041-100 / DR10 platform compatibility: Both part numbers reference the same 6V Ni-MH cell format used across ONeil's portable imaging line. The shared voltage rail and connector pinout mean one cell covers all units that accept either OEM reference.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a calibrated load bench. The BMS accepted the cell without trip events, and terminal voltage held within spec across the full discharge curve.
- First-cycle initialisation for ONeil camera bodies: Run the first charge cycle inside the OEM charger or camera body before shooting. Some ONeil units require an in-body charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve correctly before the battery-remaining indicator reads accurately.
Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell
Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than lithium chemistries. Camera battery indicators calibrated to an aged OEM cell can misread a new cell's state of charge and report empty when the cell still has usable capacity. This is most common on first use before the camera has logged a full discharge cycle with the new cell. Run one complete charge-to-empty-to-charge cycle through the camera body, and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's curve.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the camera display
The camera maps voltage thresholds to percentage steps based on how the original cell discharged. A new 2100mAh Ni-MH cell discharges at a slightly different rate than a worn OEM cell, so the camera's threshold table produces uneven percentage jumps. The indicator is not broken — the cell is just newer than what the camera last learned from. After one or two full discharge cycles logged in the body, the display stabilises. If it continues past three cycles, check that terminal voltage at the connector reads at or above 5.8V under light load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ONeil camera body shows "no battery" even though this replacement is fully charged — what's happening?
The camera's BMS runs an authentication or voltage-presence check on startup, and a brand-new Ni-MH cell can sit just below the threshold the body expects if it hasn't been through an in-body charge cycle yet. Place the battery in the OEM charger until the charge indicator confirms full, then insert it and power the camera on. If the error persists, connect the camera to its OEM charger with the battery inside — one in-body charge cycle from 0% is usually enough for the body to accept the cell. After that cycle, the "no battery" flag clears.
Shot count is much lower than I expected from a 2100mAh cell — is the battery faulty?
Shot count estimates assume a baseline draw, but flash recycling, continuous autofocus, and extended live-view or video recording each add significant current draw beyond what a single-shot count figure accounts for. A session heavy on flash will pull far more from the cell than a session using natural light. The cell itself is not the variable — your shooting mode is. Switch to optical viewfinder where available and limit continuous AF during playback to recover shot count closer to rated capacity.
The battery depletes noticeably faster in cold field conditions — is the cell damaged?
Ni-MH chemistry loses available capacity as temperature drops because electrolyte ion mobility slows, raising internal resistance and compressing the usable voltage window. This is a chemistry behaviour, not a fault. Keep the camera body and battery in an inner jacket pocket between shots when working below 10°C — the cell recovers its full rated capacity once it returns to room temperature. If capacity does not return after the cell warms up fully, run a charge cycle and check terminal voltage at the connector; a healthy cell at full charge should read at or above 6.2V.
