Fits ONN Surf 8" 3rd generation tablet, replaces OEM part U28100115PV.
3.8V, 5000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full capacity to this 8-inch display device.
Connector solders directly to motherboard; no physical release tab or locking mechanism present.
We bench-tested the cell on ONN's charging circuit; BMS accepted load at 3.8V nominal without cutoff faults.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves the inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ONN Surf 8" 3rd Gen — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (U28100115PV)

This is a 3.8V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the ONN Surf 8" 3rd generation tablet (model 100071483). It replaces OEM part U28100115PV and powers the tablet's display, processor, and wireless radios. Fit the battery when the original no longer holds a charge or has swollen.

  • Surf 8" 3rd Gen compatibility: The ONN 100071483 uses a flat Li-Polymer cell at 3.8V nominal — the same voltage rail the charge IC and PMIC expect. Swapping in a cell at the wrong voltage trips the protection circuit immediately. This cell matches the OEM spec exactly, so the board communicates with it normally.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the ONN Surf 8" platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC completed a full CC/CV cycle without cutting off early. Cell temperature stayed within normal range throughout.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force it off manually. Then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the tablet. This single full cycle resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that almost always appear after a battery swap.

Why the ONN Surf 8" shuts down between 15% and 25% remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The old cell had a steep voltage cliff at low charge — the IC learned that cliff as "empty." With a fresh cell, actual capacity runs deeper, but the IC still triggers shutdown at the same learned voltage point. Running one complete discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge teaches the IC the new cell's voltage curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at 15–25% stop.

Fast charging not available after battery swap

Some ONN Surf 8" units won't negotiate fast charge on the first cycle after a battery swap. The USB-PD controller holds at standard 5V input until it completes one accepted full charge cycle with the new cell. This is a firmware-level handshake, not a fault with the battery or the charger. Complete one full charge from low to 100% using the original charger, and USB-PD negotiation resumes on the next charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ONN Surf 8" shows 80% battery but shuts off without warning — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the tablet's board was calibrated to the old cell's voltage behaviour, and the new cell has a different discharge curve. The IC hits its learned shutdown threshold before the cell is actually empty. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% — one full cycle recalibrates the IC and the unexpected shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my ONN Surf 8" jumps around and doesn't match actual charge — what's wrong?

This is fuel gauge drift — the IC's stored calibration data no longer maps correctly to the new cell's state of charge. It's a software-side issue, not a hardware fault. Let the tablet discharge naturally to zero until it powers off on its own, then charge to 100% without interruption. The percentage reading stabilises after that recalibration cycle.

My ONN Surf 8" feels warm near the charging port while charging after the battery replacement — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth near the charging port during the first few charge cycles is normal. The charge IC is running a full CC/CV sequence against a new cell with a full capacity, which generates slightly more heat than charging a partially degraded cell. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or charging stops and restarts repeatedly, disconnect and check that the battery connector is fully seated. Normal warmth fades after the first complete charge cycle.
