Fits Zebra ET40 and ZT45 tablets, replaces OEM part numbers BT-000456, BT-000456-30, and BTRY-ET4X-10IN1-01.
3.87V, 7500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 29.03Wh to sustain field operations across retail and logistics environments without midshift drain.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with positive terminal contact first, locking tab engages left side, no forced insertion needed.
We tested full charge cycles on ET40 hardware; BMS accepted handshake without fault codes, voltage held steady under WiFi plus display load.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra ET40 / ZT45 — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BT-000456)

This 3.87V, 7500mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the OEM pack in the Zebra ET40 and ZT45 enterprise tablets. These are ruggedized Android tablets used in retail, logistics, and field operations. Capacity is 29.03Wh — matching the original specification from Zebra's BT-000456 series.

  • ET40 and ZT45 compatibility: Both devices share the same 3.87V cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — a single pack covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on an ET40 unit. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge IC accepted the cell without error flags, and the device registered full capacity.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installing this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that typically appear in the first few cycles after a swap.

Why the ET40 shuts down at 15–25% after a battery swap

The ET40's fuel gauge IC stores calibration data from the previous cell. When a new pack is installed, the IC maps voltage curves from the old battery onto the new one. Under combined display and WiFi load, the voltage drops faster than the IC predicts at low charge levels. The firmware reads this as a critical threshold and triggers an emergency shutdown. One full discharge-to-shutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% re-anchors the calibration to the new cell's actual voltage curve.

Fast charging not available after battery replacement on ET40

The ET40 uses a proprietary charge negotiation handshake between the charge IC and the battery's BMS. On a fresh cell, this handshake requires at least one full accepted charge cycle before the device unlocks higher charge rates. If fast charging is unavailable immediately after swap, charge the device fully using the original Zebra cradle or USB-C adapter — not a third-party charger. After one complete cycle, the charge IC confirms BMS compatibility and enables the full charge rate on subsequent sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ET40 is showing 80% battery but just shut down without warning — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The ET40's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell and misreads the new pack's voltage curve, especially under combined WiFi and display load at lower charge levels. This causes the device to hit a firmware-triggered cutoff well above the true empty point. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this recalibrates the IC against the new cell and eliminates the premature shutdowns.

The ET40 still shows the same percentage for a long time, then drops fast — what's wrong?

This is fuel gauge drift. The IC is using stale calibration data from the original battery, so percentage reporting is non-linear — it holds steady then falls sharply as voltage drops below a threshold the old curve didn't account for. It's not a cell defect. A single full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the calibration reference and produces accurate linear reporting from the next cycle onward.

Fast charging stopped working on my ET40 after I replaced the battery — the cradle charges it slowly now

The ET40's charge IC holds off on higher charge rates until it completes one full handshake cycle with the new BMS. This is a one-time negotiation and it only completes on a full accepted charge cycle. Use the original Zebra cradle or the OEM USB-C adapter — not a third-party charger — and let the device charge from low to 100% without interruption. Fast charging will be available from the next session once the IC logs a successful cycle with the new pack.
