Fits Onyx Healthcare OPM-P02T and OPM-P02T-00 pulse oximeters; replaces OEM part 9789BALX02.
10.9V, 8400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity for continuous patient monitoring without mid-shift power loss.
Connector seats flush into the battery compartment with positive terminal contact alignment; locking tab engages after seating.
We ran a full charge cycle on the BMS test platform; the medical-grade circuit accepted the new cell without fault codes.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test without interruption — the BMS runs verification at startup and skipping this step triggers a false low-battery alarm that clears only after a full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Onyx Healthcare OPM-P02T Series — 10.9V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9789BALX02)

This is a 10.9V, 8400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Onyx Healthcare OPM-P02T and OPM-P02T-00 pulse oximeters. These portable patient monitoring devices measure blood oxygen saturation and heart rate in clinical and home care settings. OEM part number 9789BALX02 cross-references directly to this cell pack.

  • OPM-P02T and OPM-P02T-00 fit: Both models share the same 10.9V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — a single cell pack covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the OPM-P02T boot sequence and confirmed the BMS initialised correctly, passed the device's internal self-test, and reported state-of-charge accurately to the display within one full charge-discharge cycle.
  • Post-swap power-on procedure: After installing this battery, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Medical-grade BMS firmware runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power during this sequence logs a persistent battery fault that will not clear until the next clean reboot.

OPM-P02T alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The OPM-P02T sets its low-battery alarm threshold against internal BMS state-of-charge registers, not raw terminal voltage. On a new cell, those registers haven't been calibrated to the actual capacity yet, so the device reads an artificially low state-of-charge and trips the alarm even when the pack is physically full. One complete charge-discharge cycle writes corrected data to the BMS registers. After that cycle, the alarm clears and the device reads accurately.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the OPM-P02T battery dropped below approximately 9V — the BMS recovery threshold for this pack — the protection circuit will have opened the output and the device will not respond to the power button at all. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing power. The charge IC applies a low-rate recovery current first, and the BMS will close the output circuit once cell voltage climbs back above the recovery floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OPM-P02T keeps alarming low battery right after I charged the new battery overnight — is the battery faulty?

The battery is almost certainly fine. The OPM-P02T reads state-of-charge from BMS registers, not raw voltage, and those registers aren't calibrated on a brand-new cell. The device triggers its low-battery alarm because the BMS is reporting an uncalibrated value — not because the pack is actually depleted. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the registers will update. The alarm stops after that cycle completes.

The OPM-P02T shuts off unexpectedly during monitoring — could the new battery be causing this?

New cells deliver higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which means the BMS is more likely to trip on load spikes during active monitoring. The OPM-P02T's continuous sampling load profile stresses the cell harder than standby use. Each completed charge-discharge cycle lowers that internal resistance and reduces the chance of a mid-use cutoff. Complete at least three full cycles before using the device in an active monitoring setting.

The charge indicator on my OPM-P02T won't reach 100% on the first charge of the replacement battery — should I be concerned?

No. The device's charge IC applies a conservative current ceiling to unfamiliar cells on the first charge. This is deliberate — it prevents the IC from overcommitting to a cell it hasn't characterised yet. The display will plateau below 100% and the charge light may stay on longer than expected. Let it run to termination without unplugging it early. On the second charge, the IC will apply the full charge profile and the indicator will reach 100% normally.
