Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Packard Bell Dot SE DOTSE-21G16iws — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Packard Bell Dot SE netbook range. It fits the DOTSE-21G16iws, Dot SE/R-111UK, Dot S/B-003 IT, Dot S/B-017UK, and one additional Dot S/B variant. Voltage and connector match the original spec — no modification needed.
- Dot SE and Dot S/B platform fit: These models share a common 11.1V three-cell architecture and the same battery bay dimensions. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the range, so one cell covers all listed variants without firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Dot SE unit. The BMS accepted charge without interruption, voltage held steady under combined CPU and display load, and the protection circuit tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
- Post-swap calibration on the Dot SE: After fitting, run the battery down to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Why the Dot SE BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
The Dot SE stores battery health data in EEPROM on the original cell. When a new cell is installed, that stored data no longer matches the actual chemistry — the BIOS reads it as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% prompts the BIOS to rewrite the learn cycle against the new cell. After two to three cycles, the health indicator normalises.
Dot SE shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual capacity curve. The gauge was trained on the old cell's voltage profile and triggers shutdown earlier than it should. It is not a cell defect. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full uninterrupted charges — by the third cycle the gauge recalibrates and shutdown will align with the correct low-voltage threshold near 10.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Dot SE shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and never moves off zero — what's happening?
The BIOS is reading stale EEPROM data from the old cell and has not yet recognised the new cell's charge state. This is a common handshake delay on the Dot SE platform, not a dead battery. Remove the AC adapter, shut down completely, refit the battery, then boot on battery power alone. If the gauge still reads zero after one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle, run a second full cycle — the BIOS learn routine completes by the end of the second cycle.
System info on the Dot SE shows a Wh rating that doesn't match the 48.84Wh spec on the new cell — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure displayed in system info is pulled from EEPROM data written by the original manufacturer, which may differ from the actual chemistry rating of the replacement. The 48.84Wh figure in the product spec reflects the measured capacity of the new cell. The discrepancy is a reporting artefact — run the battery through one full calibration cycle and the displayed figure will update to reflect actual capacity.
The new battery charges to 80% then stops — the Dot SE won't push it to 100%
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Some Packard Bell Dot SE units ship with a battery conservation mode enabled in the BIOS that caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Enter the BIOS setup at boot, locate the battery or power management section, and disable the charge limit or set it to 100%. If no such option appears, check the Acer/Packard Bell power management utility in Windows — the cap is often set there.
