Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Palm M150 / M155 / Zire Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 650mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Palm M150, M155, Zire 21, and Zire 22 handheld PDAs. These devices use a slim single-cell pack to power the processor, SRAM, and display. Capacity figures come directly from product data — 2.41Wh total energy.

  • M150, M155, and Zire 21/22 compatibility: All four models share the same battery bay dimensions and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The connector pinout and BMS handshake are identical across this generation, so one cell fits all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in an M150 and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack without error flags. The device booted cleanly once voltage reached the minimum boot threshold — the unit did not respond until the cell was partially charged first.
  • Sync before you swap: The Palm M150 stores contacts, calendar entries, and application state in SRAM that is powered entirely by the main battery. Pull the cell without syncing first and that data is gone. Run a HotSync to your PC before touching the battery.

Why the Palm M150 loses all data after a battery swap

The M150 has no flash storage for user data. Contacts, memos, and calendar entries live in volatile SRAM, which requires continuous power to retain its contents. The moment the old cell comes out and before the new one seats fully, that SRAM loses power and clears completely. The fix is a confirmed HotSync before removal — not after, and not during.

Palm M150 shows power but won't complete the boot sequence

A freshly installed cell that shipped at storage charge — typically around 3.0V — may sit below the M150's minimum boot voltage. The device powers the screen momentarily then stalls or resets in a loop. Connect the Palm to its charger for at least 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.6V, the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Palm M150 lost all my contacts after I swapped the battery — is the data gone for good?

If you didn't run a HotSync before removing the old cell, yes — the data was in SRAM and cleared the moment power dropped. The M150 has no flash storage for user data, so SRAM is the only place it lives. Going forward, always confirm a successful HotSync to your PC before pulling the battery. If you have a backup file from a previous sync, Palm Desktop can restore it.

The M150 powers on after fitting the new battery but freezes on the Palm logo and won't boot — what's wrong?

The cell likely arrived at storage voltage, around 3.0V, which is below the threshold the M150 needs to complete its boot sequence. Charge the device for at least 20–30 minutes before powering it on. The unit should boot normally once the cell reaches approximately 3.6V. Do not keep forcing a cold boot — repeated attempts won't help and the device needs charge, not resets.

Wireless sync via IR or Bluetooth is dropping constantly since I put in the new battery — why?

The M150's IR port and any connected radio draw more current than standby operation, and a cell that isn't fully charged can't sustain the voltage under that load. Voltage sag during transmission causes the radio stack to drop the connection. Charge the battery to full before attempting any sync — the IR port is particularly sensitive to supply voltage dipping below 3.5V mid-transfer.
