This 3.7V 1600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the IBM WorkPad 8602-20X handheld PDA. The WorkPad 8602-20X is an early-2000s pocket computer used for mobile email, scheduling, and data access. It measures 52.63 × 34.07 × 10.41mm and matches the original footprint exactly.

Sync to your desktop via HotSync before pulling the cell — that is the only reliable way to protect your data.

A new Li-ion cell ships at partial charge — often around 3.0–3.2V — which can fall below the minimum threshold the 8602-20X boot sequence requires. The device may hang on the startup screen or refuse to power on entirely. This is not a fault with the cell. Connect the device to its charger and bring the battery to at least 3.6V before attempting to boot.

The WorkPad 8602-20X won't turn on after fitting the new battery — did I get a faulty cell?

Connect the WorkPad to its charger for at least 30–60 minutes before trying to power it on.
