Fits Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5, DMC-LX5K, DMC-LX5W, DMC-LX7 and related models; replaces DMW-BCJ13, DMW-BCJ13E, DMW-BCJ13PP.
3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 3.15Wh total energy for extended shooting before requiring a recharge cycle.
Rectangular form factor 41.70 x 35.60 x 10.05mm slides into the LX5 battery door with flat connector alignment and positive terminal forward.
We bench-tested this cell in the LX5 body; the BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without authentication errors or voltage warnings.
On first use, perform one complete charge cycle inside the camera body itself — the LX5 BMS requires an internal charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve to its battery-remaining display indicator.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 / LX7 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DMW-BCJ13)

This is a 3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion replacement for the Panasonic DMW-BCJ13 battery. It fits the Lumix DMC-LX5, LX5K, LX5W, and LX7 compact cameras. Dimensions are 41.70 × 35.60 × 10.05mm — a direct physical match to the OEM cell.

  • LX5 and LX7 platform fit: Both cameras run the same 3.7V battery rail and use the same DMW-BCJ13 form factor. The connector and BMS handshake are identical across LX5K and LX5W variants, so one part number covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the LX7 body using an OEM charger. The BMS accepted the cell without flags, state-of-charge reporting stabilised after one full charge cycle, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff.
  • First-use charge protocol for the LX5/LX7: Charge the new cell inside the camera body or via the OEM DMW-BTC10 charger before your first shoot. The Lumix BMS maps the discharge curve during that first full cycle — skipping it can cause the battery-remaining indicator to read inaccurately for several sessions.

Why the LX5 battery-remaining display reads erratically on a new cell

The Lumix DMC-LX5 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than an aged OEM cell — the camera's thresholds don't map cleanly to it until the BMS has seen a complete charge-discharge cycle. This shows up as the indicator jumping from three bars to one bar without warning. Run one full charge and full discharge cycle before trusting the display. After that cycle, readings settle to within one bar of accurate across the normal operating range.

Camera body shows "No Battery" with a freshly inserted replacement cell

This happens when the replacement cell's resting voltage is just below the LX5's minimum wake threshold — typically below 3.2V after storage. The camera interprets this as an absent or dead cell rather than a low one. Remove the battery, charge it externally for 15–20 minutes via the OEM charger to bring it above 3.4V, then reinsert. At that point the body recognises the cell and the charge indicator appears normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LX5 shows "No Battery" even though the replacement cell is fully seated — what's wrong?

The LX5 will reject a cell that rests below roughly 3.2V, which can happen after a replacement battery has sat in storage. The body treats undervoltage the same as a missing battery. Charge the cell externally for 15–20 minutes to bring it above 3.4V, then reinsert — the camera should recognise it immediately.

The battery percentage on my LX7 keeps jumping around — it shows 50% then drops to one bar seconds later. Is the cell faulty?

The Lumix voltage-threshold indicator doesn't know the new cell's discharge curve until it has completed one full charge-discharge cycle. Until then, the estimate is unreliable and bar-jumping is normal. Run one full charge followed by shooting until the camera shuts down from low battery, then recharge fully — after that cycle the display stabilises.

Shot count dropped sharply in cold weather with the new cell — is this normal or a defect?

Lithium-ion cells lose usable capacity as temperature drops, and the LX5's combination of optical stabilisation, continuous AF, and flash draws accelerates that effect in the cold. Keep the spare cell in an inside jacket pocket until needed — a cell at body temperature delivers noticeably more shots than one that has been sitting in a bag at 0°C. There is no defect; capacity returns fully when the cell warms back to room temperature.
